The Swiss haulage and overhead crane market fell to X USD in 2021, down -X% year-on-year. This figure reflects the total revenue of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs and retailers’ profits, which will be included in the final consumer price). During the period under review, consumption contracted significantly. Consumption of haulage cranes and overhead cranes peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Swiss bridge crane and gantry crane export scale
In 2021, Swiss exports of transport and overhead cranes surged to X units, a year-on-year increase of X%. Overall, however, there has been a marked decline in exports. The fastest growth rate in 2017, with a year-on-year increase of X%. During the period under review, exports reached a maximum of X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, exports remained at a low level.

Exports of transport cranes and overhead cranes in 2021 are worth X dollars in value. However, exports continued to show modest growth during the reporting period. The most notable growth rate occurred in 2017, with an X% increase compared to the previous year. As a result, exports peaked at X dollars. From 2018 to 2021, the growth rate of exports will remain at a low level.

Serbia (X units), Germany (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main destinations for Swiss haulage and overhead crane exports, together accounting for X% of total exports. In addition, Serbia exports twice as many transport cranes and overhead cranes as Germany, the second largest exporter.

From 2012 to 2021, the largest increase was in Germany (+X%), while the other leaders saw more modest growth in shipments.

Germany ($X) remains the leading foreign market for Swiss transport and overhead crane exports in value terms, accounting for X% of total exports. In second place is Italy ($X) with X% of total exports. It is followed by Austria with an X% share. From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of the value to Germany is +X%. Exports to other major destinations recorded the following average annual export growth rates: Italy (+X% per annum) and Austria (-X% per annum).

Swiss Overhead Crane and Gantry Crane Import Scale
In 2021, Swiss imports of transport cranes, gantry cranes and overhead cranes decreased to X units, a -X% decrease compared to 2020 figures. During the period under review, imports declined slightly. The most significant growth rate occurred in 2018, when imports increased by X% over the previous year. As a result, imports peaked at X units. Import growth will remain low in 2019-2021.

Imports of transport cranes and overhead cranes soar to $X by value in 2021. Overall, imports fell significantly. During the period under review, imports peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, import volumes have remained low.

In 2021, Germany (X units) was the largest supplier of transport and overhead cranes in Switzerland, accounting for X% of total imports. In addition, transport cranes and overhead cranes imported from Germany were three times higher than the figures recorded by the second largest supplier, France (X units). Taiwan (China) (Taiwan X) occupies the third position in the ranking with an X% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of sales from Germany is -X%. The average annual growth rates of imports for the remaining suppliers are as follows: France (+X% per annum) and Taiwan (China) (-X% per annum).

Statistics of various crane suppliers in Switzerland
Germany is Switzerland’s largest supplier of transport and overhead cranes by value, accounting for 63% of total imports. In second place is the Czech Republic with 14% of total imports. It is followed by France with a share of 11%.

In value terms, Germany remains the main foreign market for Swiss transport and overhead crane exports, accounting for 50% of total exports. In second place is Italy, which accounts for 20% of total exports. It is followed by Austria with a share of 9.4%.

In 2021, the average export price of transport cranes and overhead cranes will be USD 8,927 each, a decrease of -55.4% from the previous year.

In 2021, the average import price of transport and overhead cranes will be $8,970 per unit, up 36% from the previous year.
