Afternoon Sheldon, Henry here! Today I'm noticing a white noise or hissing coming from my Combustion Bass. I hear it even when the last knob; treble control (?) is at it's center position, when moved fully clock-wise it gets even more pronounced. Tried to change the battery, and that didn't make a difference...with the volumes in the off position, you can hear it! And when I move the treble knob, to me, the last one...WITH the volumes still off, and move the control clock-wise as far to the right as it will go, it gets more pronounced! Moving it all the way counter-clockwise; it's still audible just not as much! I was not hearing it while practicing last nite...so any help would be appreciated! Combustion # 00044! Thank you so much, and good day!

Ok! Good morning all! Way too much has been going on since I sent this out!. I did get a very quick response from Jeff, who gave me a few possibilities to check on. Neither of which made any difference. So when able, I will first have my local tech give it a look see...and if he can't find the issue, I will send it back for a pickup upgrade and the newer volume pots upgrade also as they are available now.

...also this just in...Jeff; the hissing/noise does not alter with ANY amp volume. Nor does it ever get ANY louder with an increase of the volume pots. It is a constant, that ONLY gets more pronounced when the Treble tone knob (the one nearest the jack, to clarify) is in the full clock-wise position. At the "center detante" position, it is heard. And going counter-clockwise from "center" decreases it noise some, but it is still present. Maybe this helps some?

It would be impossible to diagnose hiss over the internet. A little noise is normal.

Best bet is to take it to a pro-level tech. Emphasis on the pro-level.

Sorry for the long delay all! Way too many life issues have occurred over the past few months! Nothing conclusive to add after taking to my luthier who has 20+ years experience building and repairing. Possible explanations...treble pot, or a new preamp needed! So if I may inquire Sheldon, what preamp might you recommend as a newer replacement for my combustion, and possibly a treble pot...and the costs please? Thank you kindly and good day!

No worries. We can do one of two things. We can send you out a replacement EMG pre-amp no charge. Or we could sell you a Glockenklang. Other than that, any 2-band 9 volt pre will work.

Today is a holiday in Canada. Send an email to Jeff and copy me. We'll take care of this on Tuesday.

Hello all! I can only say that SHELDON and JEFF have far exceeded ANY customer service from ANY company than I have ever dealt with. Way ABOVE AND BEYOND my expectations to help resolve my issue! Outstanding service to a newer owner; and so kind! That's all I need say, and should have results soon when my tech has at my bass! Thanks gentlemen, and a return of blessings to you, Henry!
