[quote="bassplayinbill":14sqcv8t]...let me know what you think. Thanks[/quote:14sqcv8t] I think this is a great bass at a great price. It is EXACTLY like mine. If anything bad had happened to mine and this one became available, I'd snap it up in a second. Best of success with the sale.

Thanks Bill, quick work! They are all pretty pricey, so it's looking like the total is too much for me to find in a hurry. Will check my finances and confirm, but I think I might have to wait until I've sold off a few basses. :( EG

Of course, departure and arrival airports would need to be convenient and the bass would have to be in a gig bag instead of the case. Probably too risky, but maybe worth pursuing a bit.

See ya.[/quote:3i3pk7q4] I just shipped a 4-space SKB case from FL to CA, UPS Ground. $46.84!! I couldn't believe it. Gas prices have seriously driven up shipping costs. I would suggest weighing and measuring your final packing box with the bass inside before you throw out a number for shipping. I took a bath on that SKB case because I estimated $25 bucks top for ground shipping (yeah I haven't shipped anything in a while). Also, I think DHL or FedEx will be cheaper than UPS (definitely do not use USPS).

I got estimates from all three in person - they each weighed and measured the case and axe. FedEx and DHL were comparable ~ $450.00 - $500.00. There are also available online estimating tools - I wonder how up to date those are?

You should check out USPS anyway. I've shipped basses to Japan, Turkey, and other far-off places without incident using them. They are by far the cheapest. Mark

I shipped a Steinberger to Switzerland a while back, and USPS was the only carrier that was not ridiculously expensive. I also shipped a J-Retro preamp to the UK, in a very small box (4"x4"x12"), and UPS wanted over $100. Again, I used USPS. For Int'l shipping, USPS is the only choice.

May I chime in here? The problem with the USPS lies with the contracts they sign in different countries. In my part of Europe USPS uses the local Postal service only for the large items and they ship them the least expensive way (which means some delay, even up to 2-3 months sometimes). But so far I had no problem with USPS shipping apart from a delay of some basses and a lost package. That package had Villex pickups, and when both Villex and I had no luck upon tracing the lost package (even with tracking number and fully insured) Villex replaced the pickups and boosters free of charge and shipped UPS at his expense!!!! (Thanks Villex)

Thanks Fully, I can't say I've had much luck with USPS either. I once ordered some Stick strings from Stick Enterprises and after two months, they hadn't arrived. S.E weren't able to track them and USPS had no idea what happened to them. A few weeks later, the strings arrived back at S.E, marked undeliverable, and they were then able to ship them again, via someone more reliable. Not exactly a great result, given I desperately needed the strings all those months ago! EG
