I finally got the 2" plus crack in the top, that resulted from FedEx shipping two years ago, fixed on my Z2.

I had it done by Chicago Fret Works. I did not want to re-paint the bass, as I love the original burst, so they smoothed the crack (it was pretty nasty and uneven and through the top), they did the best they could to match paint to minimize the visual impact, and they re-applied the polyester finish to the entire top to hide any ghost lines that would result from the new finish.
Considering the total repair was $285, and the fact that this bass has its share of dingies from previous owners, I am very pleased with how it came out!
This is an intermediate stage after the crack was filled and smoothed.

Close up in strong light, you can see a scar in the lighter color area.

From a distance, it is hardly noticeable.

The best part? I can now actually play my bass again. I had them do their "the Works" set up as long as she was there. They leveled and dressed the frets as needed, put on a new set of Dingwall nickel steels, set up the action nice and low and intonated.
Looking forward to getting her home!
