Hey I just noticed a SJ5 with a wenge neck on bassdirect (allegedly the first one). I like this wood very much on my fake Warwick ; could we know if, when, how and on which models it will be available (and basically anything you'd be willing to share) ? Wenge necks are pretty freakin cool. We are adding it as an option on all AB models and up. Officially in about a month when the new pricing and options are finalized.

That's great news. I'll have to order an ABI with it and swap necks with my ABZ... or something  [img:3pgzlixo]http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/ABII_5_Ziracote_Wenge_files/ABIIFront.jpg[/img:3pgzlixo] [img:3pgzlixo]http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/ABII_5_Ziracote_Wenge_files/ABIIBack.jpg[/img:3pgzlixo]

Yup, I had seen this thread. Sheldon said the roasted maple won't be done again in the near future though - I've been curious about this stuff ever since I've seen it on MusicMan's (and Suhr, Sadowsky, Ruokangas and such)

Just to be sure, is it also available on the Sklar ? I would think its signature nature makes it uncustomizable, but then again you never know with Dingwall

If you're serious we'd consider it.

any info on how a wenge neck and FB react to canadian weather? (Ie Maple with Maple FB is the most stable non Graphite neck i have seen, how would wenge/wenge compare to that or the common Maple neck-wenge FB combinations we see on lots o Dingwalls? I am really interested in hearing that wenge/wenge on any of the models !

It's as stable or more than maple/maple. It will take a while before we do this combination on every model but as of 2013 it is an option on all except Combustion models

I can't say anything on the effect of the wood, but the fundamental is the fundamental tone of the string played, not the natural harmonics which also sound. When you play an E, E is the fundamental. It has to do with the fundamental frequency of the string vibrating.

Just one question about wenge/wenge neck : what about the weight ? Is it like maple/maple or maple/wenge ?

I expected it to be a lot heavier but it's extremely close to Maple/Wenge.
