but it's so much easier on a Dingwall. [img:3rioon4n]http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a315/guitarded99/guitarded.jpg[/img:3rioon4n]
Well SMB, that's not [i:3vs6bq6r]entirely [/i:3vs6bq6r]accurate: it's a freezer. I find it gets much crisper, more precise tones than the fridges warmer feel. :P [/quote:3vs6bq6r] Hmm. Maybe its time to invest in a blast chiller...

Well SMB, that's not [i:39uz2eia]entirely [/i:39uz2eia]accurate: it's a freezer. I find it gets much crisper, more precise tones than the fridges warmer feel. :P I just got it back from Sheldon and Jeff yesterday (setup, new strings etc. It used to be strung starting F#, which was intense but not for me) and it sounds niiiice! If I can ever get out to my brother's place, I'll record it and post sound clips. The CAG Comby is nice and I'd like to keep it as a backup, but bills gotta get paid. It's prolly going to go up once I'm used to the extra string. :(

While other bassists use a "fridge" cabinet (SVT, 8x10), you actually use a fridge! Nice 6er. That Candy Apple Green ain't too shabby either!
Yep, my absolute favorite dingy so far. . . Is the yacht yours too? (can I get a ride :D )[/quote:2akysvfy] Ha! Wouldn't it be nice if it were mine and I could give you a ride. Can you imagine how much it must cost just to fill the gas tanks? It's got a crew of 17. Quite a dingy, alright.

How kids play dingwalls. The green tape is because of no strap locks... All the product placement lined up right..[/quote:3pmijyxq] Nice bass. All the more reason to have straplocks. I could see tape on a Fender, but a Dingwall? :? Not mine. I guess that's how the kids roll these days.Mark[/quote:3pmijyxq] Locks are really nice but they've always been a hassle for me for some reason, the loosening, small parts getting lost. The truth is I have never needed locks on my Dingwall(probably the same pegs as the SJ), never needed tape either. I originally started using Levy's(the beefy, all-leather model)straps because of the comfort, I was trying to gig a heavy Alembic. After that bass was retired I kept using the straps on my Dingwall. Along the way I've tried several nifty neoprene(wetsuit material) brands and had problems. The Levy's straps are much thicker at the ends where the holes are and really ride securely in the "V" of the hooks, also I believe that the all leather strap "dampens" the up and down movements of the bass while the neoprene(and nylon to a certain extent)sort of act like a coil spring and cause the bass to "pogo-stick" a bit more. These are just ideas but I move around a bit on stage and I don't think I've dropped my Dingwall once in well over a decade. The straps do come in all black, they can also bleed onto white shirts when they are new(ish), they absorb moisture as well. I remove them and hang them after particularly sweaty gigs as I sweat a lot when I play. I also got one that came apart within a week, they replaced it but it was a PIA, this could have been the store just blaming Levy's though and hoping I would go away. BTW!!! FULLRANGE, cool venue. I did a double take on that second pic, thought something was wrong with your ear, you may want to check that out.

In the first one, we opened up for B2B, a very talented Jimmy Buffet tribute band, hence the Hawaiian shirts  In the second one, I am with my posse with my (formerly Lomo's) Blue AB-I Elite working for beer and bbq.

Actually, the band sounds very good and it looks like the audience was passing through, so no big deal.

I agree with you, but the band is new and we had not very much time to prepare us for the gig. Maybe next time with bigger letters (or better with no paper)

"your singer kneels on the stage to read some of the lyrics?" imho that's not acceptable. :-) why doesn't he rig up something with a light and have large enough print so he can look down when needed? oops, sorry to take the thread off base here.

Ohhh, I was sortof talking about the "middle of the week" in general. Next week and the week after I'll be in the DFW area for a few days (family wedding, playing gigs in FTW, Waco, Houston) so I might can get together We're awful busy in the summertime, but if y'all can get something together I'd love to swing by and chat with you guys. I won't be back in West Texas until probably Monday night, then it's sleepy time. -Michael

i apologize for the poor quality but these were taken with my cellphone camera. It was a friend and myself taking a shot at a reggae tune. My friend (who is on the pics) loves my Dingwalls and he was more than happy to put his Fender back in it's case to try my Dingwall. The recording engineer commented on the "best bass sound he had ever heard" as soon as the Dingwall went into the board. He chose the Dingwall sound, hands down to the sound provided by my friend's bass.
