I have acquired a '93 Voodoo Prima and I have a few issues to resolve if you would be so kind.
I notice that the locking neutrik jack is no longer locking, so it needs to be replaced, Is this the same component you use today? Where can I order one?
I also noticed that the bass is a bit noisy, especially if the treble boost isn't cut all the way. Even then, it will generate crackling when my hand is off of the strings, and then as my fingers approach and touch the strings, it sounds like static crackling discharge. Could that be the bad jack not grounding properly? I notice that if I touch my cable at the jack, it doesn't seem to make the noise.
Finally, this is not a big deal, but I have some laminate sprouting on the neck. It seems to be settling back down after its journey and I know this is normal, but if it does not settle back down completely after a few more days, is there anything I can do to smooth it out? I don't want to mess with your fine work, but it is still fairly pronounced at the first position.

The Jack is a Neutrik locking TRS panel jack. It should be available locally. If not it can be ordered from us or an electronics supply house.
Start with that. While the tech is replacing the jack, have him remove the bridge plate and scuff the bottom. It sounds like it might be corroded.
If your tech is skilled at refinishing with oil, have him lightly sand with 600 grit and refinish the area. Behlin Master Gel is what I'd recommend.

It turns out the neck has settled back for the most part. I can still feel it slightly along the center laminate in spots (mainly in first position) but it is much, much less evident than it was. As long as it stays as it is, while not perfectly smooth, it is now so minor that it is simply not worth messing with your fine work.
I will look into purchasing the connector in the US to save the customs hassle.
As for the bridge, I will probably do the work if necessary. I'll replace the connector first, and if the noise continues, I'll try removing the bridge. Regarding this task:
I know this is an early bridge design. Do I remove it by removing the saddles first, and will the connectors that couple the bridge plate to the bass then become evident? It does not connect through to the other side of the bass.
Also, would I use steel wool or something like that to "scuff" the bridge plate?

The saddles will need to come off. Same wrench as the pickups. Scuff the bottom of the bridge plate with 220 grit paper. The ground connection is a simple bare wire under the bridge plate.

Great, thanks so much, Sheldon. I'll start with the jack, as that needs to be replaced for sure. If noise persists, I'll remove the bridge plate and scuff it. I'll let you know the results once I have had a chance to do so.

Hey Rob,
I have a similar bass. If your electronic issues go beyond a jack or ground issue(not that they should!) you might consider FD-3/obp-2 or obp-3. It really opened a lot of doors [i:in7ze4lk]for me[/i:in7ze4lk] tone wise and the retrofit is completely reversible.

Hey thank you sir. I absolutely love this bass. I can't seemed to put her down.
