We are starting to add some new colors to the Super J line. Here's the first one in Olympic White with a Tortoise guard.

What about a tortoise body with a pink pick guard? That's something I don't think I've ever seen before...

Wow, Green, that's amazing!! Off the hook. I smiled really big when I saw the coral pink, and laughed out loud when I scrolled down and saw the hot pink. (I asked Greenboy to help me out on this, and sent him an idea to work with. [i:139pd8l8]Mad skillzzz, indeed, brother [/i:139pd8l8]). I had a Jazz that I built up in the 80's that was color-matched to a bottle of Pepto Bismol. That hot pink is really close. Well, that does it. Greenboy has made a sale. Sheldon, I'm in for a SJ-4, in hot pink. I'll not wait on the SJ-5. I don't think I can stand it that long. Can we make this bass happen somtime this year? [i:139pd8l8]Puhleeezzz[/i:139pd8l8]! Anybody want to buy a Danelectro or two? Mark

I'd probably want silver-gray tortoise shell on that but got lazy. Here's another treatment I call Pterodactyl Egg Indigo: [img:14iqlk3c]http://lowdownlowdown.com/greenboy/MusicImage/IndigoDinoEgg.jpg[/img:14iqlk3c]

Hi, Sheldon, Are you doing all your painting in-shop? Perhaps a case could be made for taking that out to a specialist (I realize there are disadvantages and roughly what some of them are) for specific models and then offering more colors/treatments as options. Not that the basses themselves need any help : }

Not that the basses themselves need any help : }[/quote:3742n6qw] Of course the main "disadvantage" to the consumer is the increased cost, but I think people would gladly pay the extra money for a custom finish done by a paint artist. I recently paid $500 for a custom finish on a high-end bass that I put together. To me, the bass is so badass that I didn't hesitate. It's not just a painted guitar, it's playable art. That doesn't appeal to everybody, and some could care less, but I like it, and I'm not alone. When it comes to a high-end bass, you're already spending thousands of dollars, and I say what's a few hundred more to get exactly what you want. I love the SuperJ, but for that kind of money it would be nice to get exactly the finish I wanted, and not have to choose from a limited selection, not that there's a thing wrong with the current choices- they are all beautiful and I would be proud to own any of them. Somehow I will have a hot pink SJ. I would, of course, much prefer Sheldon to finish it, and not have to hire it out later. If the SJ is a success, and I think it will be, I foresee more and more people asking for custom finishes, or at least more color choices. I think the concepts that Greenboy is coming up with and presenting for us to enjoy really make the SJ [i:3742n6qw]pop[/i:3742n6qw]. True, the SJ doesn't need any help to be a badass guitar, but who can deny that these finish concepts he is presenting take it to a whole other level. Keep them coming, Green. Mark

I've gotta say, that hot pink is pretty horrid! It's neat to see, but I would never put out money for that considering the other colours available. I guess it's all subjective... How much different colour paint do you keep around the shop?

Growing up in the 80's makes all the difference on your impression of that color. What a great decade. I wish I remembered more of it :D

My vote is for sonic blue/white guard/maple board. I have to say that I agree with the idea that people (myself included) are willing to pay extra for a viariety of premium finishes. I have played a few Modulus basses (Flea, Quantum and VJ...all 4s), and from a musical standpoint, I don't see what all the fuss is about. IMO it's the esthetics/exotics of the graphite and gorgeous finishes that drive demand for them.
