Hey Sheldon - still CANNOT put down my first-run mahogany ABII5. I was about to update my bridge pup to the FD3 II soon & I was wondering if the new covers on that blue blackout ABI indicate any internal changes, i.e. something really cool we don't know about yet... Thanks a ton, Rob

Nothing new for the bridge pickup, but we're a couple of days away from anouncing something new for the neck pickup.

Hi Sheldon, can I tag along with a question regarding piezo pickups, is there anything in the pipeline in the near future with a piezo? I am about to order a Super J 5 strings and I was wondering if I should wait and see which of your basses might feature a piezo sometime soon? Thanks in advance.

Hi GW, we've done custom piezo installs on Prima Artists in the past. It's not something that we'd be offering on the Super J though.

Many thanks and keep up the excellent work. Your instruments are superb.

I'll post the announcement in the basses forum and probably on my news blog.

Thanks Sheldon. I'll be watching. I plan to upgrade the original FD3 neck pickup in my AB1-6 soon.

Hi Sheldon, I'm really enjoying the switchable FD3-4L neck pickup in my Afterburner II. I got rid of one of my Precision basses and switched the other one to flat wound strings because I can get a better P-Bass sound now on my main bass (the ABII) as well as on the Super PJ. I want to get a 4L neck pickup for my ABI-6 but, once again, my decision is delayed because of this new hint about a new neck pick-up design. Is there any more news about this?

The 4 and 5 string P neck versions are nailed. The 6-string version is very close. We can sell you a prototype if you like and if it doesn't work for you we can swap for a FD3 4L

So, how is it different from a Mach2 or 4L? Are the coils now like this: BEA--- ---DGC instead of the standard FD3's, which are reverse P's: ---DGC BEA---

The coil layout is like this [quote="Dingbat":pk8d88h4] ---DGC BEA---[/quote:pk8d88h4] But the turn count, wire gauge and a few other things have been tweaked to sound more P-like.

Cool. I'll wait for it then. It should go well with my maple and (alder? ash?) AB1-6. I saw in another thread that it will be wired in series. I'm curious to hear how it will interact with a bridge pickup. My bridge pickup is s/p switchable on the AB1-6 but on my AB2-5 it is the neck that is switchable. And I usually keep the neck pickup in parallel when its combined with the bridge pickup. I use the series setting when the neck is solo.
