Check these new ones out: [url:178vy8er]http://www.drstrings.com/[/url:178vy8er] They look cool and some fluorescent green would probably look good on a Candy Apple Green finish. I already inquired and the length is 37 3/4" (no extra longs as they are too new).

I went to the Washington DC area Talk-Bass get-together last weekend and won a bunch of DR string sets (all 5-string), including the pink neons. I haven't measured the lengths, but doubt they will fit on any of my Dingwalls. I probably could use the top 4 on my regular 34"-scale basses, however.

Those strings caught my eye as well, but they're not going to make Dingwall strings anytime soon is my guess.

Apparently, you can get the HiBeams and Long Neck Taper Core series in Xtra-Long, which are a scale length of 40".

Anybody play those? Curious how they feel compared to their normal coated strings. Almost look like rubber. These would not look right on my Dingwalls, thats for sure. Plus, my wife would  at me.

The neon strings were just announced, so I don't think you'll find them in stores for at least a few weeks. I actually haven't tried any coated strings. I don't have a problem with killing my strings, so it's never been a concern for me. I just thought the Candy Apple Green and neon combo might look cool. That, and the other DR strings I have on my SJ5 (Low Riders) sound pretty good.

Yeah - the neon green and the Candy Apple Green Dingwall. That combo I could see.

I'm fairly certain that it's total length, but not 100% sure.

The specified length must be from the ball end to the point where the string starts to taper. I eyeballed the length of the pink neons, and on my Dingwalls it starts to taper about 1/2 to 3/4 inch before the nut. So there's no danger of seeing my green Z2 with pink strings!

Well, this obviously is not my Dingwall, but I hope DR could be persuaded to set us "Dingers" up with some special sets. I know I'm gonna get some catcalls playing this thing out in honky-tonks, but I think I can handle myself. If not, my wife will whup their butts for me. JK! [quote="Smallmouth_Bass":ylfgy0le]Are those the new neon ones?[/quote:ylfgy0le] Yep. A little loud looking, but definitely different. They supposedly last much longer than the older coated strings they made.

So do they really glow in black lighting?

Forgive my ignorance, but is that a Ritter? And what do you think of the strings?

Yup, that's a Ritter. The DR NEON coated strings glow not only under black light, but in dim light they pick up any ambient light such as in a dark room and stand out. Haven't played them through an amp yet, but they are bright and lively unplugged. I'm eager to see how the coating holds up, they are touting these as far superior to their previous efforts at coating strings.

I'm going to do some measuring, chance they'll fit on my 4. Keep us posted how they sound and how long the coating lasts, as well as the string. They look fun. Tyler

Tyler[/quote:1uxb0387] Absolutely. The Ritter of course won't get near as much playing time as my Z3, so the DR NEON strings won't be getting a "real" world test, but they will be used a few hours a week. As soon as they show signs of wear, I'll put up comparison photos. My guess is the coating will last longer than the "tone" of the strings, which is all you can ask if you like the sound of newer strings.
