We'll be at the Montreal Guitar Show July 2-4. If you're at the show, look us up. Dingwall Sales and I would love to meet you.

Here are some of the basses we're working on for the show.

The Prima Artist is our most elaborate yet. Camphor burl top and back, highly flamed maple contrasting layers under both faces of the body, under the fingerboard and headstock veneer. Highly flamed walnut and soft maple cores. The inlay is new. It's modeled after cigarette smoke circling around the 12th fret. The woods used are Camphor burl and flamed maple from the body.

The Z3 is done in a faded bluejean burst.

If you're wondering what the Tele looking body is, well after 14 years we are finally back in guitar production starting with two updated versions of our most popular pre-fire model. We're still name hunting so for now we'll call them G1 and G2.

Those look AMAZING, Sheldon.

The single horn on teles always made me think of the head of a [url=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3049/3009817577_af72357785.jpg:2ywz0x8u]basilisk[/url:2ywz0x8u] for some reason. "Basilisk" would also kinda keep it with the fire theme of the Afterburner & Combustion (the legends, not the actual lizard :)).

Wow. Can't wait to see these guitars done. Please take many pictures!

Not even a slight fan on that tele? Pfft primitive

Fanned frets would help seven string guitars tremendously. I'm not sure about 6 stringers; but, since the fan helps 4-string basses, they might improve guitars as well. Why did you decide against it?

Oh, and I don't believe basiliks have anything to do with fire. Maybe you're thinking Salamanders? Salamander is ok.

Fire related names: T-gnite, Illuminate, Torch
Telecaster-sounding names: SuperT, TV-thrower
Random vintage-sounding phrases: Passion, Spirit, Inspire

Good call, Bocete. The Basilisk was the death stare thing. Salamander would be kinda cool though. :)

The guitars look a lot better with finish on them. The bursted one is going to get a tweaked out Bigsby.

Hi Sheldon,

Is that camphor as in the wood with the strong menthol smell? If so, does it make fragrant basses?

That's the stuff. The whole shop smells like Camphor (Vicks Vapour Rub) when it's being sanded. Other woods that have a unique aroma are Pau Ferro - smells sweet and flowerlike and Sassafrass - smells like spicy Root Beer.

So Sweet!

I'm just going to go ahead and admit that seeing that Burst Tele has got me thinking "Super-T".

I'm really interested in the guitar. What kind of options are you going to offer for it? Maple neck/board, colours, switches. Will it be customizable like a Z, or more like the ABZ where there are only a couple of options to choose from? Are the pickups yours, and whats the tone like? What about pickup covers? What kind of bridge is that?

For the next year the options will be pretty open as we dial in the features. The pickups on the burst model are TV Jones. Great sounding pickups. On this guitar they've got a fatness in the mids that's huge and the top end sparkle doesn't get mushy when you push them hard.

The bridge is a Graph-Tech tuneamatic with a modified Bigsby tailpiece. The tuners are really trick too. I'll post photos tomorrow.

The guitar below has the new Lindy Fralin Split-blade pickups. Two vintages and a blues are wired to a 5-way Megaswitch for Strat and Tele tones, the 4th pickup is a hot. The mini toggle is wired so that in the down position you get the output of the 5-way switch. In the up position you get the hot bridge pickup for a quick "cut to lead". In the middle position you get the hot bridge pickup mixed with the output of the 5-way for 5 distinct humbucker tones. The cool thing is that every single one of the 11 tones sounds great and they're all humcancelling.

The original Zebras (now Z1) were made from either Sassafrass or a Paulownia/maple sandwich.

Fullrange's Z3 is Sassafrass too.
