I purchased a Z2 recently on an auction site. The volume pot had very poor taper (10 > 0 in the first few degrees of rotation and then nothing), and when my tech and I removed the elec. cavity plate to replace it we discovered that the bass had an MEC preamp. The wiring was very neat and tidy and looked like a factory install but I've never seen any reference to MEC electronics being used in a Dingwall. The bass' serial number is 4123. I'm curious as to whether this might have been a special order or if it is an after market install. Any info you care to share would be appreciated. Thanks.

The pots are MEC, but the pre-amp is a Glockenklang.
Is the taper off on every pickup setting or just one in particular?

Thanks for the response and the info on the preamp.
The volume pot functions similarly on all the pickup settings. Having just tested it at bedroom volume levels, I can attest to exaggerating the condition previously. The volume doesn't exactly go to zero but there is a drastic drop in volume with only a slight turn of the knob. The "problem" is exacerbated at gig/rehearsal levels. It's not a huge deal, I just prefer a more gradual taper. At some point I'll replace the pot and for now I'll just "tweak" carefully.
