Hi all, I recently got an AB I 5 string. I'm overwhelmed with the different tones that this bass has to offer.

Can you guys give me suggestions and comparisons that I can understand. Like...this setting is good for hard rock, this one for slap, etc. I currently play in a sorta heavy, hardrock/prog band where I need cut and growl. But, I also slap a little and play some mellow chords too. I wanna start using my onboard controls to accomodate my playing-style changes in our songs. I also, after reading in these forums, sold my Ampeg SVT-4 to get a more transparent Carvin B1500 (1900 watt bad-boy). I haven't shipped the SVT yet and haven't received the Carvin either. Honestly, the SVT sounds pretty darn good with my 2 Ampeg SVT 4X10 HLFs (they're ported and go deeper than 18's). I keep the EQ on and smiley faced (mids scooped). I plan on setting the Carvin flat, and seeing what I can get out of the bass itself, with the help I get from you guys. The cabs are always gonna be bassier than typical 4X10's, but I like that. I'm considering getting a SWR Henry 8x8, and biamping thru my Line6 bass pod, to get more mids and highs. But, I prefer simplicity and will probably save the bass pod for use w/ my Variax only. Thanks for all help and suggestions, Jody
