I'm in Austin today on business. So for lunch i went to Bass Emporium, a killer bass shop (w/o no Dingwalls 
), and i'm trying out some solid state heads, when Ed friedland walk into teach lessons. He sees me and says, I know that bass.
He was a totally cool cat, we talked Dingwalls (if you guys remember he did the bass Players reviews on the SuperJs), and he went on his way testing out some new fenders.
I didn't get a chance to ask him how he like Austin texas, but he had an baby alligator head on his car dashboard, so he seems to be fitting in just fine

Ed is a real good guy. I have exchanged a number of emails with him, and he is a big Dingwall fan.

I've got a copy of that slap video myself and plan to do some real woodshedin' with it when I can find the time. Got his walking bass book too. I agree, he has a very clear style of teaching.

Ed is totally awesome, as a bass player and as a person. I got to watch him perform at the schoolf of bass, took a few classes with him, and just got to know him a bit.

Just to derail this thread.
I tried out 5 or 6 solid state heads while at bass emporium. I had my SuperJ as a test bass.
The overall winner to my ears was not a solid state head but the Berg IP series self powered cabs, plus Berg line driver combo. The IP12 something or rather. The cab combo sounded much much bigger/full than it appeared, covered a wide range of tone, and you could fit the whole enchilada in the backseat of a ferrari.
However I already own and enjoy Accugroove cabs, so I'm still looking.
I tried a bunch of Eden gear, Acoustic image stuff, and a few others that honestly were pretty forgetable.

Hey Frank,
Those Bergs are hard to beat. My whole rig fits in the passenger side of my little 91 nissan pickup. Live and cranked, they allow my 37" B speak with serious authority.
As far as heads go, I was pretty impressed with some of the Genz Benz stuff I have tried. I believe GB is what Ed Friedland is using now, at least part of the time. (See I tried to keep this relevant the thread....but not for long

I pair my Bergs with an Ashdown head. As a big slapper, you should probly check out the MK500 Mark King signature model before you are done searching.
