I wrote a check tonight for my first Dingwall. I decided to jump in with both feet and pick up this one... [img:2k4jotii]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v672/bpettet/DingwallGeddyLee5-1.jpg[/img:2k4jotii]

Thanks. To my knowledge, it's the one from NAAM unless he built 2 "Geddys" at the same time. This is the one that shipped to Jay at BHB. I expect that my Roscoe LG3005 will be on the block after the Dingwall arrives.

[quote="fullrangebass":33nudtbb]Congratulations on your very sexy Super J5[/quote:33nudtbb] You know, most of the Fender style basses don't look all that great but Dingwall's jazz interpretation really catches the eye. I think it would look totally different without the blocks and matching headstock. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. In fact, the exotic topped Super J5 with the non-matching headstock and fret dots (instead of blocks) doesn't interest me in the least. See below for a comparison. This is just a great looking bass. Hey folks, what is the bass in the middle? It looks a bit like an AB but has 4 chrome knobs, chrome hardware, and a different bridge set up, was this pic taken at NAMM? N

Yes, that's the NAAM display. The one you are asking about is the prototype for the "entry level" Dingwall. Sheldon wants to price it under $1000. There's a lengthy topic on this forum about it.

It seems this thread has the usual gang of SJ fans in it. I am taking the plunge and have an SJ5 on order (currently I play an AB), for those who have an SJ5 I would really appreciate your thoughts and impressions. N

Congrats your your SJ5 order. The dealer I bought this from had ordered it 2 years ago. Surely it won't take that long now that the R&D is complete. There is a dealer who is setup to receive a dozen limited editions of the SJ5 and I would guess that they will probably get SJ5's before anyone else (maybe Sheldon will comment on that).

Excellent. I know you and at least one other regular member here have had one on order. What are the particulars on yours? Did you go through a dealer or through Sheldon?

I went through a local dealer. I think the policy is that if there is a dealer in or near your city, you must deal through them. Since there are few Dingwall dealers, I think many people end up going through the Dingwall shop. The particulars of mine are olympic white, matching headstock, tortoise shell pickguard, morado fingerboard and dots (OBP-1). I almost switched to pealoid blocks, but I made the request the day my fingerboard was fretted, so it was too late. In retrospect, I think dots will probably be better. Seeing as the bass and headstock are white; that would be a lot of white with blocks. Dots will provide more contrast between the body and headstock. Either way would be nice though. I am getting really excited!

Sounds interesting. I agree that dots would probably look better than blocks on yours. The tortoise shell and morado should go well together, especially with oly white. Edit: Mine also has the Aguilar OBP-1. As I understand it, they come with a Dingwall hybrid treble control for active boost in active mode and passive cut in both active and passive modes. That sounds groovy. 8)

Just out of interest what is the rest of your set up? N
