It seems it is real hard getting a set of flats to work with the scale lengths. How about a double bass set? http://www.gollihurmusic.com/faq/2-SIZE ... G_FAQ.html

Talk to Jason at Bassstringsonline.com. He's got Payson's strings made specifically for the Dingwall longscale basses. BSO has become my go to site for strings, they do an awesome job. When I needed a C string to round out my Payson reduced core set, they sent one along at no charge, just traded in some of my rewards points. BSO.com will go the extra mile to make sure your strings are right before they send you stuff that doesn't work. They'll ship for free, and your order will be remembered in your profile for quick refills. The Payson strings come in many models including a ground wound nickel, closest thing to a flat in the Paysion line. I've had great results with Paysons. All the Payson selections are tapered at both ends to fit the DIngwalls. You will do minimal setup with Paysons. I've got a set of TI jazz flats on my AB-1, so I know you can get TI's that are long enough. I'm not sure if it was a special order, but Rollerburg would know. The TI's are not tapered at either end, so you will need to do a complete setup, and you might need some shorter saddle screws to fit the .136 B string. Circle K strings are another source to try. I'm not sure if they do flats.

Which TI flats did you get? I'm currently saving up for an ABZ and always loved TI strings, so I'd like to try them on a Dingwall. I saw they have a 5 string set on their web site, but it's for 34" scale. Does it fit?

The TI jazz flats I have came to me through Rollerburg2000, I'm not sure if they were a special order or how he got them. Thanks Jeff! They sound great and I really like them. They favor a lighter touch, and can get sneezy if you dig in hard. I think it's a pretty cool thing. They sound even more clear and warm on the longscale basses. I've got TI's on the Super P/J's as well. The Infeld superalloy superlong set will work, and this is a very nice nickel roundwound. I'm really digging the Payson nickel rounds, both the reduced core set, with a slightly larger gauge and the medium lights. Again, I'd contact Bassstringsonline.com. If anybody can hook you up, it's Jason.

The TI flats singlemalt has on his AB1 were special ordered from TI through Gary Rosen at GuitarX. He also sells Dingwall, so he's familiar with the requirements of the multi-scale. Great guy to deal with, I've actually gone out of my way to order things from him because of the outstanding customer service.

Thanks for the replies! Good to know that TI are doing custom orders. I'll just contact them directly, I live in the same city.
