The ABII is the flagship of the Afterburner line. It features a chambered walnut body, with a beautiful walnut top as a standard option (custom tops also available). The ABII retains the versatility of our Afterburner line, coupled with an elegant semi-hollow design.
Available in: 4, 5 or 6-strings, 2 or 3-pickups, active or passive electronics, with a range of available finishes.
At the core of the ABII’s design lies a chambered body carved from walnut, which both helps to reduce the weight and increase the resonance thanks to strategically placed tone chambers. A 5-piece maple neck construction allows this design to be highly stable and reliable for the most discerning of players.
The ABII utilizes our FDV pickup configuration, which offers a well rounded range of bass tones. These are passive pickups wired to our 4-position Quad-tone pickup selector, with an optional 3-band active EQ from our collaboration with Darkglass® Electronics (Rupert Neve Designs electronics are also available). Like our other Afterburner models, there’s also the option of configuring each pickup in series or parallel mode via individual mini switches.
The Afterburner bridge is a sleek design that’s fully adjustable and fits the style of the bass perfectly. Collaborating with Hipshot®, we reduced the complexity of the saddles to a minimum, then designed a unique base plate system to hold them rigidly in place.
Along with our custom Hipshot® bridge are custom Hipshot Ultralite® tuners, which now feature a shorter notched tuning peg. This allows for a proper downward angle at the nut for maximum sustain on a flat-style headstock without using string trees.
Dingwall strings have been meticulously tested to maximize performance and deliver a tone that blends effortlessly with any style of music. We were the first company to design strings specifically for multi-scale instruments. Available in both nickel and stainless steel, our strings provide an even tension for optimal balance, letting you experience the warmest highs and the tightest lows possible.
