Super P

Hi finally my first post Started playing Dingwalls, 4 years ago. Wunderfull Instruments !! I bring this old thread back, as I'm the current owner of the Super P5 Prototyp, ( shown on the first pages of this thread ) ... and it's on ebay, right now. This is definitely the best Instrument I've ever played ( including my 5 and 6 string Status basses ) ! But it's not been played, for way too long, as I'm returning to J-Sounds. Cool idea. I look forward to seeing that installed. I always thought it'd be cool to do an Afterburner with pyrography (or have someone else do it really).

And John while your there I strongly recommend a 30 minute trip to brands hatch for a quick spin around the track in a two seater race car !!

Fran i haven't been to London in 37 yrs, I moved from Swindon in 77 to Ireland and have only been back to England once since, i love the laid back attitude here, but you have me thinking now i'm due a little me time off, so watch this space

Have to agree with spiritbass, it's been a long time now since the super p was released, and still we wait to see it added to the basses gallery section, would be nice to see the specs and pics of it up along with the rest of the range, oh Dave changed the pre amp on my SJ5 to an East J retro Deluxe, what a difference, one happy bunny, (it is nearly easter), well worth the money, if your about Donegal give me a call.

Also, there are some portfolio pics linked on the front page of the web site. Click on the basses tab above at the top of the forum and you like and there will be link to photos.

Sheldon and crew surely place a higher priority on producing instruments than throwing up a gallery to stimulate more demand at this point.

yes i still shake my head in disbelief at how good the P is. it doesn`t matter what i play through; it sounds incredible. it sure gets a lot of interest when i take it out too. my guitarist thinks it is the best sounding bass he has ever heard.

Thank you guys! The bass looks and feel great, I put on it a set of Elixir that I dislike but last very long, so the sound is a bit darker than I'd prefer (but Elixir just came out with coated stainless steel strings...will give them a try at the next strings swap) and the Tone Fusion is less functional than with the stock set (to the point that tone full open or full close are very similar), but for the tone I've been aiming for that gig it worked. The bass is light and comfy, we'll balanced, with a great neck and the perfect midrange to cut through (not that I needed to, in a quasi-acoustic gig) and with a deep low end. I bought my first picks ever, cause I cannot have a P without a pick. Still have to adapt my touch to the coated strings cause they feel more slippery than the stainless I use on my basses, so I don't feel so much confident yet but it's going better. Oh, the sound is pleasing everyone trying the bass, so Sheldon nailed the SP for sure. Maybe, just maybe, I'd like a reversed p.u. to tighten a little the lows. Just nitpicking, the SP (all of them I tried so far) is a winner!
