Been wondering about longboards for some time now, but i guess this was the drop.. edit; ohh and of course; specs, suggested price/release time..?

That's very cool, Sheldon. Of course I want one because it's a Dingwall, but I would very likely fall off, break my arm, then be unable to enjoy my other Dingwall products. I'd love to see one in 3 color burst. Mark

28yrs ago I used to skateboard. Over all these yrs, I thought I had matured enough to concentrate only on work , good looking females and great Dingwall basses These boards are really tempting but I'm holding back for the time being. I have to admit once again that Sheldon never ceases to amaze me

btw, i want the same kind of burst, but slime green edit: sort of like the snotburst i guess, only more prominent green, sorta toxic ya

Sheldon-- didn't you break your ankle on one of these a few years back? is this like the race car drivers who slam into the wall at 150mph+ bust every bone in their body and say---can't wait to get in the car and race again they are neat looking thou

I don't know what to say. I guess they are real cool if you are a skateboarder but I must ask what do they have to do with basses except the designer is the best bass builder in the world. I hope you are not spending valuable bass building time on these? 2 to 4 year wait times for basses is a long time. I'm sorry Sheldon but it had to be said. I do look forward to having this discussion at NAMM.

Cost of this setup is $300. Frank, you're correct. I've given up all dreams of speed records David, you bring up a concern that should have been addressed in the original post. These are a [u:dm94cuof]weekend project[/u:dm94cuof]. There is [u:dm94cuof]no time conflict[/u:dm94cuof] with bass production. Ironically, I justified the time and expense to tool up to be able to do the bent lamination on your bass by amortizing most of the cost to future longboard production. WOW! Very nice work! Did you steam bend the laminates? Are they bent not only front to back but also side to side? Is that even possible? I think its great that you have a weekend diversion/project/obsession.I think changing your mental gears sort of jump starts your brain. The attention to detail on these boards shows that they are near and dear to your heart. I'm glad you were able to make them a reality. The wheels on the green one look a little worn.....I'm sure it's from testing in a controled lab environment. RRRIIIGGGHHHTTTT!

I haven't had the pleasure of getting to know Sheldon, but I am pleased to learn he has other passions besides building basses. Having only one passion can and does lead to burnout whatever field you're in. I think its safe to say noone on this site wants to see Sheldon burnout on what he does best! Passionate people tend to have other passions. Passionate people with too many passions have ADD as we call it in the states, and they rarely get anything done Keep up the good work Sheldon. I like others would probably buy anything with the Dingwall name on it. I'm thinking in the far off future when you retire a line of fine handcrafted ales and lagers featuring elements of your finishes on the bottles and packaging. Sign me up for the first case of IPA finished in Whale Pool Blue! Cheers! Jeff

I don't know thing one about skateboarding, but those are some cool looking boards. I have to ask, though, don't skateboards tend to take a lot of abuse? I'd hate to see those pretty finishes get messed up.

I didn't realize skateboarding(longboarding) was such a passion of yours. I agree with those about having another passion not just bass building. I owe a debt of gratitude for the saddle on my Prima being a one off and coming from the development of the longboard. Thank you Sheldon for that. It is your business and you are certainly entitled to run it the way you see fit. I do mine. In fact my business is the only way I would be playing my Prima and soon to be Z3. I guess my bass playing is like your longboarding except I don't expect to ever be paid for my bass playing. It would be nice but not practical in my case. I do like the "Seismic Blast Wave" color. How would that look on a Quilted Maple Z3? I agree NAMM is not the place but I do look forward to seeing you. Bring one of those longboards along you probably would sell a bunch. Thank you again Sheldon for building such fine instruments.

I guess other folks have said it but credit to Sheldon for making the time for another passion, and any of us who have the slightest inclinations to creativity will understand that often, the best ideas or the solution to a long term issue will come up when one is applying oneself to something else. Heck I might just get into skateboarding myself, Sheldon, is there a gig bag carrying adapter available for these boards N

Hi David, the closest we can get to the Seismic color would be either a Whalepoolburst or a Stormy Monday burst. Both would look great on quilt. The NAMM Z3 was Stormy Monday. Jeff, I've never tried brewing, but if it turned out anything like my cooking, I'd likely get arrested:( John - That's a pretty happening deck already. This would be quicker turning and easier to pump (assuming you've got Randalls mounted on it) but not as flexy.

so it's possible i might get a dingwall without waiting two years??!!!! how cool is THAT?
