We've got a nice run of Z's going at the moment. Another one to start soon. Some of you may recognize these bodies already.

Yours is on the right. [quote="guitarded":3pzh6muw] I'm really liking the Z2 with the old Voodoo body shape. Mark[/quote:3pzh6muw] You know, I was thinking the same thing. We might have to do a limited run of those if there's interest.

Any thoughts of a "Super Musicman" (JM5 maybe) with a Z2 pickup configuration, shorter scale, and a Super J5 shape?

I am so happy with both my Z2's that I am in the process of selling all the MM related basses I own

Hey Sheldon, thanks for posting the picture. Well there's a sight indeed. I have sorted most of the specs for my Z3 order (many thanks to Sheldon and Dingwall Sales for their patience!) and once I firm everything up with Dingwall Sales after the weekend, I hope to be placing it this week.......oh boy then the waiting begins. I have swung a work trip to Saskatoon in March so I will be hoping to visit the shop and at least get a whiff of my new bass :D

We just got most of the bodies back from the finisher with their seal coats. There's still color and clear to go, but they're looking pretty nice already.

Holy Moley. 8) [whistle] Wow. The Phatties following the fan are more astethically pleasing. The natural no top is my favorite.

WOW!! Exceptional looking tops. Is that quilted Z3 mine Sheldon? I wish right. Maybe the next batch? After seeing that I'm maybe thinking "Clear Finish"? Let's talk when the time comes. Thank you for the pics. Please keep them coming.

So it looks like about half of the Z orders have opted for the Z-3 configuration. Interesting! Those spalts look great as does the quilt! Nice & 3 dimensional! :D The filled grain on the ash body also looks great. It's going to be fun to see how these different basses diverge from here...

I'm one of the Z owners-to-be and I did change my order from a Z1 to a Z3. I was lucky (or unlucky, depending on how you look at it) to be in the queue long enough that the Z3 became a reality. Based on what Sheldon has said about it, it's going to be a perfect replacement for my AB1 (or maybe I should say a perfect addition TO my AB1, as I doubt that bass is going anywhere soon). Rob

I'm always amazed at how the finish brings out the grain/colors/contrast in the wood. A great lineup of Zs. Sheldon, which pickups will you be putting into the Z1 with the spault top?

Hi John, Sorry if I did not make that clear in my last post. Yes, mine is in this batch. It is the darkest spalt top (3rd one down, IMG_1454.JPG). I cannot wait to see how it turns out. I switched it from a Z1 to a Z3 in January, right after NAMM. Rob

Very nice, Rob. What do you have planned for the fingerboard/headstock?

Not just planned, it's already done. As a native Buffalonian, I went old school. Wenge fingerboard, matching headstock. It's nice. Here is a photo of the inlay done by Ron Thorn in California, and also of the custom headstock (inlay done by Sheldon).
