We've got a nice run of Z's going at the moment. Another one to start soon. Some of you may recognize these bodies already.

We've got another batch of really cool Z's on the go. It's been a long time since we've done a purple. It's such a cool color and the purple pearloid blocks flipflop with the light incredibly. It's been a while since we've done red too. I love the look of red with black filler. The Whale pool has everyone's jaws dropping around here. We love our jobs.

Wow, Sheldon, you make some gorgeous instruments. In time, these basses you make will be priceless! Well done.

Rhinestones have the best glitter. They have to be installed proud of the surface to catch any light though.

As US Fish and Wildlife clamps down on inlays with shell in them, we've decided to discontinue shell altogether. The result is we're starting to get creative with our inlay materials. I think we will see many more builders following suit. There just may be an exciting period of creative development ahead of us. I posted photos in the Z3 gallery of a new one heading to Bass Northwest with synthetic tortoise shell inlays. Here's a shot of the headstock. We used a sterling silver border around the D to help it stand out from the redwood. To me it's got a 1920's vibe to it. http://www.dingwallguitars.com/products ... 3-gallery/[/quote:3lgbx6pw] OMG Sheldon, that is beautiful! You're employing some jewelry techniques! How about side position markers using diamonds bezel set in platinum? Maybe a baguette at the twelfth fret? :D[/quote:3lgbx6pw] I always thought that the Zircons that Danny Gatton used as side dots to catch the light were a great idea...
Hey Sheldon, have you thought of doing a bass with that fancy paint that changes colour when viewed from different angles? That Tangerine/Lemon burst reminds me of it.[/quote:3rdth0xu] I've always felt it needed something different to take it to the next level. That is one of the MOST SICK finishes I've ever seen! If the inmost stripe was a tad wider, though

I uploaded some photos of a wild Z3 going to Japan today. Candy Tangerine/Lemon diagonal-burst. Here's a taste. The rest of the photos are here: http://www.dingwallguitars.com/products ... 3-gallery/

That's the bottom one, right Mayflower? Just keep in mind: no pictures, no bass! ;) Post some picture of you and the bass in the "Show Your Dingwall" thread. And welcome here. :)

I'm really also digging the fact that a lot of the spalted/flamed maple instruments are from the same 'log' as mine!

I really like the last one that is blue with what looks like white swirls. What wood is that and how did you make that color?
