We've got a nice run of Z's going at the moment. Another one to start soon. Some of you may recognize these bodies already.
Amazing finish! This one trumps the Snotburst as far as being out-there, IMO. It looks like Jello salad. Congrats. Mark[/quote:2s1bfsvr] You know, I sort of think of this in the same ballpark as the 'Snotburst'. That bass has been in my photofile on my work and home computers since they were first posted, and it's been in the back of my mind. Heh. When I first got my Afterburner, my guitarist (of ten years plus!) freaked out because it's not traditional looking and he hated it for that and for the 'flash' factor. We'll see how this one runs...(actually he's now seen pictures). Turns out I like a fair amount of flash.
SPECTACULAR!! The Rastaburst is simply amazing! Congratulations, BurningSkies!! Maybe not the bass for everyone, but it's so cool to see something completely new in the custom bass world. This one is probably the most cutting edge I've seen in years designwise, especially the inlays.. Is that a yellow stain I see on the fingerboard, or is this phototrickery? :o[/quote:1jjfd1g7] I'm in love with the way it looks...and can't wait to pick it up in my hands. I know that when I got my AB, I went through a 6 month period of playing it about 4 hours a day before dropping back into my regular practice and rehearsal schedule...So I would guess this will be the same. I believe that I'll have to 'sneak' time late at night though, as my girlfriend will start getting jealous otherwise! I think what you're seeing on the neck is probably a reflection...it's got inlays and that's about it. Sheldon had worked on another neck feature for a while, but the logistics of the idea didn't work as hoped. Maybe we'll see it on a future Dingwall if the bugs get worked out! Until that time, the cat will stay in the bag...
I won't have time for the full shots until tomorrow, but here are some closeups. Thank you Bill for your patience and great ideas.[/quote:3u50hg9i] Sheldon, that's simply the most beautiful thing I've seen. I said it before when I got the shots of the finishing stage...I'm speechless. I'm very happy an honored that you've built the bass of my dreams. Thank you for all your time, your effort and all the ideas that you've presented and brought to the table in the past 3 years. :D
Over to you Frank :) This one has a lot of understated class I think. The spalt is there when you look up close or when there's a strong light on it, but it disappears in the distance.[/quote:1i2sfuhc] Nice lookin' Z! As a comparison, I think it looks beautiful with a bright light on it too! [img:1i2sfuhc]http://www.dingwallguitars.com/forum/files/img_1964_203.jpg[/img:1i2sfuhc] Congratulations, Frank! Let us know when you get it and give a review!
Also I love the names for the basses, what is a TBB? N[/quote:2tb5mzj3] I'm guessing "Transparent Black Burst". My second guess would be something like "Truly Beautiful Bass", or "Talk Bass Bombshell" 8)

I'm digging the old-school Voodoo inlays! Reminds me of my first official Dingwall-sighting in Bass Player's '97 5-string shootout.. Congratulations on a beautiful Zebra, Mr. Amodeo! Now we're all anticipating the completion and glamour-shots of the Rastafari-burst maple wonder :D

Very nice indeed, I love the contrast between the body/headstock and the fretboard. Frank, I cant wait to hear what you have to say once you get it in your hands  Also I love the names for the basses, what is a TBB? and only Sheldon could label such a beautiful bass a "Super fatty full Joey II" :P N

Gosh, what beautiful basses! I'm going to have to start whoring myself to all of the women in town. Either that or start collecting underpants (Phase 1). Phase 2?
This has to be the best bass thread of all time! Can't wait to see what's next. :o [/quote:116wxws2] +1! "Z Group Shot" is the most sexy and happening bass thread on the www. Can't wait for the next bass being posted, and the next, and next... This particular thread makes the wait for my own custom Zebra a little less unbearable :)
