They do show a maple neck Matte Black farther down the page, or did you email them and that is 'only for ordering'?

Huh, am I missing something? I see no matte black CB with a maple fingerboard. As for maple fingerboards, from the top: one is white, one is natural, one is glossy black (called only "black"), and one is candy apple red. Maybe you're seeing a glossy black C? I didn't email anyone because Sheldon told me that all matte black & maple basses are sold out. I did check all the dealer's websites and found none. I do hope I was making a mistake and that there really is one for sale

I got a CAG Comb. with a rosewood fretboard, is that close enough? Only $5000 (plus shipping). Do you know how long until the next batch? If it's a matter of months, I don't see why you would need a used one so quickly (but I'm not you, I understand that ). If you could find a matte black w/ rosewood fb for sale at a place that has a comb. with a maple fb, ask if they can switch the necks. I don't think that would be a problem.

Might give it a shot Though, by swapping necks they'd be swapping the serial numbers, and also, the other bass will be getting a matte black headstock which they might see as a problem. Damn that matching headstock Why the urgency? Well, I'm having this personally important gig in a month and would like to have it here and in C2 form by then. Other then that, I don't mind waiting for the next batch and odds are I will be waiting. To be honest, I would be thrilled but surprised if I got an offer from this thread. There are, what, like 5 Combustions that fit the description, of which maybe 2-3 owners will see this thread. What are the odds of them wanting to sell theirs right now Btw no prob NaH

Ah, good call. I forgot about the matching headstocks. I got my bass before that was an option ( ). You're going for the C2 conversion, huh? That'll be interesting. Post your results.

Yeah, I've asked them to switch the necks, and the matching headstocks do pose a problem so no way. The funny thing is, I realized that the matte black/maple fretboard Combustions look better without the matching headstock. The matching headstock does look better on the rosewood version. Also, the plain black/white/black pickguard look so good on all MusicMan basses. I would certainly love one on my C.
