Hi fellow Ding-aholics. I have been stating lately that I am out of GAS for the near future, and I always said that this is for some good reason. I am sure you understand that I am a fan of Sheldon's Works of Art. So we have a question to answer: What can possibly be better than a Dingwall??? this one???

Hi John. Contact me by all means. This is a journey in the Dingwall magic that has been going on ever since my first encounter with Dingwall basses in 1999. When I realized that Sheldon created a very advanced bass with playability, sound and ergonomics secoond to none, I wanted to try the different recipies provided by the master chef. In fact the necks on the Dingwalls were made as if he had my hands in front of him. The one bass that you mentioned (not the snotburst one), it's a Zebra and used to belong to Jimmy Cobb. From what I saw Jimmy has expanded his family too with a Prima and a Z2

It, along with the ABII that I bought from him and Juan, was there in the shop awaiting a new home. Thanks for the offer to share your experience. I'm going to visit with Jim soon to get some ideas, too.

Holy crap! Those are [i:2mk0kvu1]really[/i:2mk0kvu1] all yours? I recognize the first one as Geoff's Prima (the first [i:2mk0kvu1]real[/i:2mk0kvu1] Artist) and of course, the Snotburst one. That's really crazy!

Yep. It's Geoff's Artist Prima as well as the snotburst one 8) The 6strings are by far the most comfortable 6str I've ever played. Till now I always shied away cause the necks were uncomfortable for me. But with Sheldon's work I can now enjoy a 6str (maybe a second one too) One funny thing is that Dingwall Sales and Sheldon always suggested that I should have a detuner installed on the B string but I always declined the offer. Now I realize that I have 4 Dingwalls with a detuner!!!!

When you are a Ding-aholic you always get the notions. Yes, there is one Dingwall on the line. It's an Artist Prima 5 with few special twists. Starting from the woods and going to the electronics. I had a discussion with Sheldon last night regarding that (he had no idea about today's post or how many Dingwalls I own 8) ) and it will be 2yrs before it gets ready. I am patient and I have faith to Sheldon. I own 12 Dingwalls and I can say that he has not failed me at all. I have to admit though that he takes my head-ache inducing ideas with a smile, and to make things worse, he turns these ideas into reality. Thank you Sheldon I am a proud Eponymous Ding-aholic

Well Eddy you have outdone yourself. I think it is now official, you get first prize for the race to own the most Dingwalls. I'm sure it warms the hearts of all Dingwall owners to know that you actually do play them all and that they don't sit in their cases never seeing the light of day. I applaud your enthusiasm and your assistance in helping me develop the market in Greece. Regards to Terry and hope to see you and your Dingwall collection in Greece again. Dingwall Sales

"The road to excess leads to the palace of wisdom... for we never know what is enough until we know what is more than enough" I always found this quote by William Blake interesting... I guess you're the one to know if it's true! :D

I've gotta chime in again here. That's [i:1hbwsvqc]crazy  [/i:1hbwsvqc]- 12 Dingwalls, or 12 of any high-end bass. Now, I have had up to 45 guitars and basses at one time, but I didn't have that many hand-builts. I sold off a bunch and I'm down to 8 now. I'm reflecting on how I spent the money, and I realize I could have had more Dingwalls had I known about them earlier. Oh well, 3 is better than none. I'm hoping to start on Dingwall #4 soon, but I could never justify 12. I'd never make a gig for trying to decide which one to take! See, even Fullrange has to ask us for advice on which bass to take to practice  . Congrats on an awesome collection, my man. Any plans to sell any of them at some point? Mark

It is a beautiful collection. I must admit that I too am sad to see that the infamous Snotburst was so short in the original owners' hands and migrated so quickly to new hands. At least it will be played by someone who will appreciate it properly.

Just came back from a rehearsal and the "Brazil" (Snotburst) was one of the 3 basses i had with me tonight (along with the Prima 5 and the Zebra) It has a very deep sound and the ramp is a different feel all together. I am flying in 3 hours so I don't have the time to explain how does every bass feels and responds. See you all in 96hrs from now

Yes that Zebra slipped through my hands, I'm glad it's in such good company! At the time I was new to the store and needing to raise some money. Just recently I had a little money come my way from some property so the Z2 and Prima are mine (thanks to twoport). What comes around goes around!

It is a very impressive list. I should offer to switch handles with him. He is obviously much more [b:yhjixmo3][i:yhjixmo3]guitarded[/i:yhjixmo3][/b:yhjixmo3] than I am . Mark

i suspect that it's threads like this one that enable and contribute to us "new DW owners" moving from the initial exploration or 'casual users' category to a manifestation of the more serious forms of DW addiction. i myself seemed to be in the exploration state for some time but have quickly developed severe symptoms of dependency. not having been dependent on DW in the past it may explain my drooling, uncontrolled aaahhhing to these pictures, and thinking that owning a house and car or having a wife is greatly overrated - skip the last point, i knew that... hail the DW! :)
