Hi fellow Ding-aholics. I have been stating lately that I am out of GAS for the near future, and I always said that this is for some good reason. I am sure you understand that I am a fan of Sheldon's Works of Art. So we have a question to answer: What can possibly be better than a Dingwall??? this one???

My mistake! Got the years wrong. With all the trouble they are having in Greece I do hope he is OK? Maybe just an "I'm OK" response Fullie?

Damn I have to say after skimming through all those posts full range you have a beautiful collection, but I'm new with my combustion(6 months) and I know I have the best Bass around. I will own another Dingwall that has everything I could dream of in it(damn plasma screen w/PS3, Korg Kaoss pad, and a universal remote...I'll never misplace the TV remote again...Oh yeah!!) and I'm going to play it just like I play the one I have now. Sadly I don't think i have ever seen a room full of bass guitars and fantasized about Dingwall polygamy(is that legal in California). Cheers to the best bass I've ever played and to the hosers(meant with love and respect) who build them.

I am long due for a new family pic But here are some pics of my Z3 (looks I'm getting older and I start to forget; or I am trying to hid more Dingwalls that came in my hands  ) Anyway, here come the pics [img:aw6z8aly]http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee282/EEF16011967/Z3/fullrange_z3_full_shot_312.jpg[/img:aw6z8aly] [img:aw6z8aly]http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee282/EEF16011967/Z3/fullrange_z3_headshot_622.jpg[/img:aw6z8aly] [img:aw6z8aly]http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee282/EEF16011967/Z3/DSC03214.jpg[/img:aw6z8aly] [img:aw6z8aly]http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee282/EEF16011967/Z3/DSC03216.jpg[/img:aw6z8aly] [img:aw6z8aly]http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee282/EEF16011967/Z3/DSC03219.jpg[/img:aw6z8aly] [img:aw6z8aly]http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee282/EEF16011967/Z3/DSC02648.jpg[/img:aw6z8aly]

I love the detuner on my AB. You ought to see the reaction from my band mates when I occasionally detune to low A! Mark
Then it occurred to me that I can use the Low A (detuned B) play the pattern and while playing the pattern to get back to B to complete the phrase (left hand fingers playing AND left thumb re-tune the B string back to normal and continue the pattern from there, cross string, mid-phrase!!!). One hell of a tricky performance and a nightmare to pull off. But it is a Dingwall and it was easier once I practiced it.[/quote:p07536fw] Low A (detuned B string) is totally awesome. It wipes out everything in its path. :)

No new Dingwall yet but I had a revealing moment yesterday. All these years, Sheldon and Dingwall Sales were trying to talk me into getting a B-string de-tuner on my favorite Dingwalls. I was naive enough to think that I can de-tune and re-tune the B (and/or E) and this would take care of the problem. Yesterday I was practicing a bassline that I composed for somebody else's song, couple of days earlier. I have incorporated some open A notes (on the A string) and some open low B notes (in different patterns, not single long standing notes). I thought of de-tuning the B and then punch in when the B returns back to normal. But it is a Dingwall and it was easier once I practiced it. Once I was able to perform that part, ONLY then I realized that the de-tuner is NOT a gimmick or an easy way out, but a GREAT tool to use when the composition calls for it. I apologize to Sheldon and Dingwall Sales for not being as open-minded and creative as I was yesterday, and I know that my next custom Dingwall will have one or two de-tuners Thank you Sheldon once again for providing me (and all other fellow Ding-aholics) with the best basses available!!! PS I forgot to mention that the Dingwall that helped me to be creative and pull it off is the old style AB II

I am humbled that my fellow Ding-aholics (awesome bunch by the way; proud to be part of the team) see me as a nice fellow :D I am sure though, that Sheldon would like to appoint me as his "Worse Constant Headache" or the HI-ideas guy (Headache-Inducing Ideas Guy) Still more Dingwalls to join the herd!!! Long Live Sheldon and the crew!!!

Really Fullie should receive a DD designation for the collection, informative posts, and generally being a nice guy. 'Cept it has to be defined: "DD" means: Doctor of Dingwalls or something like that.
Am I the only one that finds it funny that Fullrange has so many basses, that he can get away with having his own personal thread?[/quote:26qice4n] Yeah, we all pretty much felt the same way. I was a little irritated at first, but that soon gave way to the anticipation of seeing what Fullie the bass-nut would come up with next. It's like Christmas when he announces a new arrival, and I'm always happy for him. The level of collecting he's doing isn't for me anymore, but I enjoy watching his Dingwall exploits and living vicariously through his posts. The up-side to all this is that now I know where to get a used one when I need it. I wonder what's coming next? :P Mark

All of your basses are beautiful FRB. Nice addition as well! Am I the only one that finds it funny that Fullrange has so many basses, that he can get away with having his own personal thread? --> That's dedication to the brand!
Smallmouth's got it. We built that bass using Korean sourced parts as a NAMM sample. [/quote:xn6w6pri] OK, thanks for the clarification, Sheldon. Congrats on another, Eddy. You must realize by now that you have a hoarding disorder. At least you're hoarding the worlds coolest basses. That said, I can barely rotate my 4 enough to suit me, and I'll have another one to deal with soon, hopefully. I don't know how you do it with 30+ :? Mark
sure is..... it even says on the packing materials "NAMM 08". Guess Sheldon's unloading the prototypes since they werent up to snuff on FRB. Kidding of course Congrats on another great find[/quote:v58t1end] Thank you guys. I insisted the Sheldon put the Villex pickups and electronics on the GL. Sheldon included the original pickups too, when sending me the GL hence the "NAMM 2008" labeling (he is an honorable man, by all means; did I mention that he is my favorite luthier ? )
