I received my ABII on Friday afternoon, and I've been barely able to put it down.
First, I must say that this bass is really beautiful. I've seen a few bubinga topped basses and thought they were OK. This one has an orange-red color mixed in with the the general brown tones of the wood, and it is subtely gorgeous. Plus, the mahogony really blends well with the bubinga. The bubinga veneer on the headstock is really sweet. I don't normally like matching headstocks, but this bass is meant to have one.
When I picked it up, I was immediately struck by how light it is. This one is lighter than my Sadowsky P-Bass, which is 8.4 pounds. The next thing I noticed was the neck profile. It is somewhat similar to my formally owned Modulus Q5, except it is made of bubinga and is even thinner, which really amazed me. When people say Dingwalls are superb instruments, that is bordering on a gross understatement. The fit, finish, and engineering just screams attention to detail and utmost in quality. I am most pleased and supremely impressed!
And this bass is dead mint as represented by David at Club Bass in Toronto.
OK, now for some pics to back up these mere words!

I've got some mo betta ones to upload, but just meeting my ogligations regarding proof of existence.
Now for playability -
This bass plays like butta, even though the action is way too high for my tastes. I believe all it needs is to have the saddles lowered, as it seems pretty good until you get past the twelfth fret and then it just gets way too high. The fanned frets are no biggee. In fact, I found myself more hung up with playing a fiver again for the first time in several months, and the fact that the string spacing is slightly smaller than my P-bass at 18mm. Still very comfortable though.
More impressions to come on Monday. And perhaps a few better pics!!
