This week it would advisable to be very nice to me, cause I've got a ship full of tanks and... I am not afraid to use 'em!  [img:dglymxph]http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r200/xt660/f7ce4fb0.jpg[/img:dglymxph] [img:dglymxph]http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r200/xt660/116d527f.jpg[/img:dglymxph] [img:dglymxph]http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r200/xt660/0dc37178.jpg[/img:dglymxph] Sorry I can't disclose where they are from nor where they are destined to, as it is more than my job's worth. But it is somewhere extremely remote and they are going to a country which at the moment is not even at war with anybody, which frankly I can't understand it myself, but I am told they are being used for training.

The most interesting thing? To me at least is when we ship the Paris - Dakar rally vehicles, specially motorbikes which are my other passion, I particularly find interesting the way they all go out nice and shiny kitted up with the most expensive gadgets and parts, and they come back wrecked and covered in desert sand. Also expensive cars, helicopters, yachts, the beauty of a multipurpose vessel is that you can get to carry anything and never know what you're going to get next. The weirdest thing was a baobab tree trunk going to Singapore from West Africa to be used in chinese medicine. The ideal way is to have them lashed onto a cradle which itself is then secured to a roll trailer, if the combined height is less than 6 metres the roll trailer can be towed through the main stern door. If they are higher than 6 metres then a cradle is lashed onto the weather deck (top deck) and the boat is lifted by crane using loopless yacht straps and lowered onto the cradle and secured for sea transportation. Sorry I don't have anymore pics of the Rally events cause I do empty my drive every once in a while, and also I am using an iPad at the moment so I don't store many pics in it. As soon we do the event again I will show you some pics of it.

Here are a couple of Sunseeker Yacths loaded on cradles and then lashed to a roll trailer, these are below 6 metres therefore they can go through the stern ramp, the third photo shows a couple of life rafts that hold up to 25 people each, they look like UFO's :D they have a small propeller and rudder, with a large tank of fuel in the floor compartment. COOL! I work at a shop that specializes in truck mount and mobile cranes. I have a wierd crush on cranes. I've never had the pleasure of seeing a crane the size of that Terex, but I sure would love to crawl all over that thing. You, sir, have a pretty cool job. During the load in, do you have much to do with the cargo? Or do you mostly just stand around and watch and wait for the ship to be loaded so you can start your trip? (I live in the prairies in the middle of Canada, I don't know anything about sailing).

But the ships I loaded weren't traditional cargo vessels, they were oil platform supply vessels, like this: [img:b6augxzm]http://media3.origo.no/-/cache/image/1392706_h47f503bbe8c647c497f4_v1274873013_647x.jpeg[/img:b6augxzm]

Wow. What an interesting job. Wouldn't do for me. though. I have baobabphobia. How easy is it to hide from the boss on that thing? It looks huge.
