i have found that the slanted pickups allow you to place your thumb anywhere along the front side of the pickup, without the need for a thumb rest... my advice is to practice and you'll soon find you will not need a 'thumb anchor.' needing a specific thumb anchoring position only limits your ability to use different plucking positions and to use another person's bass, if ever needed... imho.

I always anchor my thumb on the lowest string or two (B and E). This helps remove the sympathetic ring of those strings when they are not being played.

thanks but on all my 20 basses, I have a thumbrest ( only if the pickups don't give me a good position) I know it's personnel , I play bass since 18 years and I know what I want when I play a new bass! I would recommend a Fender type thumbrest installed where the existing screws are on the pickguard, and buy longer screws for those 2.

Hi Will, Thats not something I can take on right now. However in my limited experience making thumb rests, I'd say it's better to have a local guitar repair person make it so that you can take it back for adjustments if necessary. Thanks. Sheldon
