Our friend Mr. Matte Black has joined us at the Combustion party. He's looking good. A better description of the finish would be Metallic Matte Black. As you can see the contours have a nice glow to them thanks to the Metallic flecks.
Bridge and tuners already on the way. Can't wait to start pimpin. Ron[/quote:3e3dfv35] FYI, you'll have to convert 3 of the tuners to work on the treble side. Mine shipped assembled to go 5 in a row. Mark

Perfect. Can you please do a mockup of it with a plain black or white pickguard? Thanks!

Are the dimensions of these pickups the same as FDs? We are a restless bunch - some people are already planning to mod their Combustions :o  Mark
Sheldon I think a while back you mentioned that you're wiring the BTS @ 9 volts. I highly recommend 2 batteries run in series @ 18 volts to increase headroom and overall performance.[/quote:37brr02x] These will be 9V. However there is room in the cavity to install a second battery if you wish. Otherwise a larger battery box would have to be routed in.
Hey Sheldon, Can you list the final specs of the bass? Has anything changed?[/quote:2f4l7fr9] Body wood - Alder Neck wood (one piece, three piece, five piece?) - 5 pc maple Fretboard wood - Sonokilin Rosewood or Maple Pickups - FD3A (Alnico versions of the FD-3) Preamp - EMG BTSV7 Control layout - VVBT Projected weight - 8.5-9 lbs.

I want brown or green myself. I'm not sure how popular that would be though...

The color choices are close to being locked in. Now is the time to cast your votes for a favorite. I'll start a poll thread in a couple of days and organize the front-runner photoshop colors into the thread. Matte is out for now.
SPYDER-- Sheldon has address both of those questions, in various comments here and over at talkbass The street price is supposedly under $1200.00 USD for a 5 string (no talk on 4 bangers yet) and NO on the maple fretboards[/quote:2lj4h4ck] Wasn't it 2 or 3 years ago that you could get an all Canadian ABI-5 for $1350?
I understand this was a rush job. But has anyone read the copy on the 'Combustion page ------------ 100% Dingwall tone @ 1/fraction of the price Dingwall made in Canada FD3-A pickups EMG USA BT07 2-band pre-amp Dingwall USA strings Select hardware Manufactured in China Final setup at Dingwall Shop NOW AVAILABLE - OWE IT --------- errr... owe it, you mean like you owe it money? i think he mean " OWN IT"-- maybe even better-- OWN IT TODAY Also 1/fraction - is that a real fraction? Not trying to be nitpicky- just helpful. BTW I will be inline for one of these, after I get my magical mysterious bass come tax time--- i hope, and the sounds clips sound fantastic Sorry -- I'll gladly delete this thread[/quote:9jnguh1v] 1/fraction = Canadian fraction Owe it = If you can't afford it just finance it Frank are you getting the magical one of a kind Dingwall by April?
