Great review!!! Thank you very much for the info. It just solidified my desire to have one of these. I am surprised about the mahogany. That is a very pleasant surprise!!!!![/quote:11z65n4y] Thanks, Chris! I just wish I could remember [i:11z65n4y]exactly[/i:11z65n4y] what Sheldon said

Good info on the controls. Thanks. Was the mahogany called sapelle? Honduran? Those are two commonly used less expensive version I believe. Peace, Chris

Hi Guys, I've been in the thick of it since I got back yesterday. Things like nut spacing and neck alignment will be fixed on the production versions because there will be jigs made for all these things. These 6 are hand built prototypes. The body wood is Khaya - African Mahogany.

Hey, Chris! (DISCLAIMER: These answers were all accurate [i:3jl7dzy6]at the time of the NAMM Show[/i:3jl7dzy6], which is when I last spoke to Sheldon. I'm not sure if any of these details have changed since then.) [/size:3jl7dzy6]
Any new info on these? Final colors?[/quote:3jl7dzy6] Last I heard, the final colors have not been decided yet. Of course, this may well have been decided by now.
Pricing?[/quote:3jl7dzy6] The index cards at NAMM said $1200 without pickguard, $1235 with.
When will these ship?[/quote:3jl7dzy6] Here's what Sheldon said yesterday[/url:3jl7dzy6]:
The Combustions will be available in the spring. There will be lots available, all of our dealers (including some new ones) will have plenty in stock.[/quote:3jl7dzy6] Here's a question I'd like to know

They'll come with a case? My MTD cost the same amount and it didn't come with a case (mind you it has a flame maple top and matching headstock too). I'd love a soft gig bag, that would make a sweet deal even sweeter!

I am all for the gig bag option. Although, the hard/soft cases are cool. Like the zero gravity ones. I already have a nice double gig bag. Honestly though, at this pricepoint anything would be part of a killer deal.

I really doubt they will come with a hard case, since all Dingwalls except PAs come with a gigbag.

I've asked Dingwall Sales about the big bag/case some time ago, and they were leaning towards a hard shell case - though it hasn't been final at the time. It could have changed. If they decided to go with a gig bag - I'd like to be able to buy a case anyway..

Has anyone heard if they are coming in just a 5 string, or will there be options for a 4?

I think Sheldon said it was just 5 at the moment.

Here are some color and pickguard variations of the 6 existing Combustions. Ignore the reflections, please :) I hope the url will work without you needing to log in. Those look pretty good. I'd be all over the violet one. All the renders look great. (And yes, I'll forgive you for the reflections, lol.)

I prefer that green over the olive one.

I really like the green one, too. Great color for a bass.

Are there going to be any more colour options than what the first batch had I wonder? A couple good choices for a solid colour gloss would be great.

I guess the color options aren't final just yet. Or else they might have been published by now, as more than a few people have asked for a color chart. I too would love a solid color finish, but a matte instead of gloss. The violet I've rendered is matte, I've dimmed the light reflections. Those matte-black Ritters are to die for. I don't think matte finishes are plausible on an offshore made bass, though  Then again, maybe matte finishes don't look as good on flat surface bodies.
