We haven't done a matching 3-tone headstock yet. Yours will be the first

After much waffling back & forth, I finally decided what kind of a Super J I want. Called Quest Musique in Winnipeg and it turns out they just ordered the very bass I want. Sheldon, you sly dog you. I can't help myself. I like the classics Soon I'll have a 3-Tone burst Super J with tort guard, P-pickup, morado fretboard and matching 3-tone headstock. WooHoo! Thanks Sheldon. By the way, I hope the neck is the same shape as that Super Geddy. I think it was little wider and thinner at the nut than the first Super J I tried a few months ago. Also by the way, the Super Geddy has already been sold. Congratulations to whoever bought it.

Anymore news on this, Sheldon? Have you tried the 3-tone headstock yet? Any pics?

Mark[/quote:1cb2xdfp] Well if it makes you feel better, Mark, I had a hard time choosing. It was the 3-tone burst or an exact copy of your bronze beauty. Like I said when you got it, it's perfect. I would not change any of the options on it. I chose the 3-tone because although the bronze is absolutely gorgeous, it's too conspicuous for me. Also, I won't have to wait as long for the 3-tone because, according to the sales guy, it was already made when I ordered it. It just needed the headstock painted. By the way Sheldon, I thought of another option. (I can hear him groaning) I know it's too late for my SJ but how about a vintage yellowish stain on the neck or just the headstock

Paul- Sheldon did this on my SuperJ, he used a yellowish tint, kinda sorta looks like what your talking, which makes the headstock appear aged. Although the vintage look isn't my thing at all, this thread has me wondering when some tinkerer will do a relic job on a Super J......it reminds me of a great (IMO) band name an old friend once suggested while drinking around a bonfire....."New Ruins".

[/quote:3dp17t60] Yes, that's what I had in mind. I hadn't noticed the tint in those pictures before. I don't think the thin modern finishes will ever age naturally to look like that, though. If I could not get a matching headstock on the 3-tone, I would be just as happy with a tint like yours (with a morado board), maybe even happier - I guess I'll find out soon. Paul

The slightest nick or scratch and I try to repair it. I like to think that well worn instruments get that way because the owners are real musicians who care more about music than they do about how pretty their instrument looks. Obviously, I'm not in that league. If I owned a real or a fake relic I would love it but at the same time I would feel like a phoney. Paul

OK, I'm officially jealous. I love my SJ, and I think it's the most beautiful bass guitar in the world, but this 3 tone burst SJ is very, very nice, guys. Oh, the GAS pain! Mark
