I was thinking. Since the 37" B string scale seems to be the biggest problem, couldn't you extend the ball end with another one cut from another string? You may have to solder a loop or weave it or something that won't hurt the integrity of the main string. Then you could use a variety of flatwounds!! Whadda you think??

Hey Bob, I've always just used the Voodoo's myself so I don't have this problem, but there was another forum member that posted something very similar to this a while ago. While it seems like it works, I wouldn't use this technique myself. I don't know what it would do to the test string, but I can't imagine you'd get the same tone, consistency, nor even life out of it, compared to the others. Maybe someone will prove me wrong, this is just speculation on my part. Give it a shot. Maybe that forum member (I forget who posted it) will even speak up and point you to the thread. There was pictures and everything! I searched for it, but I couldn't find it, sorry. I think Funkshwey sells ground-wounds. They'll fit.
