Hello everyone, Please keep an eye out for my bass. My bass was stolen from my house in Portland, OR on 11-24-2013. Portland Police have been notified. Case # 13-99552. I'm in the process of notifying local stores that buy used gear. Dingwall Afterburner 1, Serial number #3870. 5 string Electric bass. Color; Honey Amber sunburst body, the neck is unpainted. Bolt on maple neck with rosewood or pao ferro fretboard. Black hardware. Soft Dingwall gig bag. In excellent condition. I had 4 basses in the living room including the AB1, leaning up against the wall in their cases and a 1981 G&L L1000 out on a stand. Of course they take the AB1... Please be in touch should one turn up for sale. I'll be watching ebay and craig's list. Thanks, Dan Fisher

Things like this make me very angry. I'll be on the lookout for Honey Amber serial numbers. How old is the bass? Does it have a visible BluEQube switch (older model)? Are the neck and the headstock painted black (newer model)? Are pickups rectangular[/url:2au2ob8i] or rounded[/url:2au2ob8i] (newer model)?

I don't know the year of production. Purchased used off talkbass. It has 3 controls and 1 switch. Rewired by previous owner to Vol Vol Tone. 2 rectangular pickups. Neck and headstock are unpainted maple. Check out the sunburst finish AB1 in the gallery. Mine looks just like it except it is a 5 string and has a lovely quilt maple top over the body wood. Perhaps an upgrade on the standard model? Can anyone help me determine approximate used value? Perhaps you bought or sold one recently? I'm negotiating with my insurance company. $1500 - $2000 US sound OK? Thanks everyone, Dan Correction: It has a flame maple top. Not quilt as stated above. Came with a Dingwall Soft gig bag.

Yes, that value sounds about right. There's an older non-quilted top one for sale on TalkBass right now with an asking price of $1850 and I am not sure if that is with a case or not. They probably came with a SKB Freedom hardshell case at the time. [url:23ip2s4l]http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/dingwall-ab1-5-string-1033911/[/url:23ip2s4l]

If it was quilted as opposed to flame, I would say 2000 [u:29igq6zg]minimum[/u:29igq6zg]. There aren't that many of those floating around out there.

That is true. There were fewer quilted tops.

Hope you find it. On the value issue... I'm currently selling a quilt-top AB1 with a flight case. Original asking price was $1800, no bites. I've dropped it to $1700 here, still no action. I think it's a buyer's market right now. adam

Thanks Everyone for your help and input. I know you are keeping an eye out for my bass and I appreciate it! I have a craigslist add out now offering a reward. We shall see if some bait is successful. Correction: It has a flame maple top, not quilt. My mistake. Here are some photos . Thanks, Dan http://s854.photobucket.com/user/danfis ... t=3&page=1
