but it's so much easier on a Dingwall.

Holy shinoley-
whats the liklihood of two dingwall bassists playing under one roof...in TEXAS its obvious pretty high. Cool

Great for two long lost brothers to meet up. The pictures are great.

Actually i had the opposite experience last week. My band opened for a big name local act, and after my set the bassist from the name band walks over to me, comments on my tone, and says- is that a "washburn" looking at my SuperJ. I tell him its a dingwall and mention its from canada.
Then he proceeds to tell me he plays a allen woody epiphone bass. I say you mean a woody allen bass- ie the bassist from the allman brothers and he says no a allen woody, its written right here on the back of the neck of my bass. He shows me the stock tag from the bass, yup sure enbuf-it says bass: allen, woody Epiphone. Idiot. anyway his tone sounded like stretched elastic bands, muddy asnd indistinct, however the band was fantastic and the lead guitar and lead singer were fantastic

Ingrate! Slap his grandma for that remark!

Well, he may not know a good bass when he sees one, but he's right about one thing- it [i:2id8u3lz]was[/i:2id8u3lz] Allen Woody who played bass for the Allmans in the 90's.

Basses have come so far from where they began. I guess that the Gibson tone is suitable, and needed, in some cases, but I would just solo the front pickup and cut the treble on my Dingwalls if I needed that sound. I couldn't imagine playing an EB-whatever all night :(

Sheesh, why didn't somebody tell us we were so ugly?

It's really amazing, that's the first gig I've ever played where somebody's come up to me and called the name of my guitar. Usually, it's something along the lines of "What's that contraption you got there? What's the matter with the frets?"

It's great to see other Dingwall owners out there. I'll continue to spread the Gospel. Thank-you Jesu... uhhh... Sheldon.

Yeah, well, don't fret too much. The basses are so pretty, they sort of cancel out the ugly.

Mark, you are soooo right! Wished you could've been there. Maybe someday some of us can get together at an event or somewhere and just jam and party all night. :D

BTW, the handsome one's on the right. 8)

Hey Michael, sure had a great time and I enjoyed meeting you and that cool lookin' bass (It sure looks alot like Mark's bass). Maybe we'll get a chance to jam again. What did you think of the way they renovated the club? Nice huh?
The few pics of the club turned out pretty good; did you get all the pics?

We'll talk again

There is some talk of a weekend get-together for Texas Dingwall owners. It would be great to assemble all of them in one spot. Might even get some press out of it. Maybe someday.

Mark, I wish I'd have known to get a hold of you. That next night we played the Mount Pleasant Country Club, then Saturday we played Gilley's in Dallas. Two meetings of Texas Dingwall owners in less than 48 hours would surely have messed up the Space-Time continuum, though.

I'm in for the TXDWO meeting (That's TeXas DingWall Owners), middle of the week is better for me, we're out on the road a bunch on the weekends.

Johnny's playing with the house band Friday night at the Grand Ol Opry, so we get to go backstage and hang out. Then Saturday we're playing at the coliseum in Greensboro, NC.

Y'all take it easy,

Michael

Ohhh, I was sortof talking about the "middle of the week" in general. Next week and the week after I'll be in the DFW area for a few days (family wedding, playing gigs in FTW, Waco, Houston) so I might can get together We're awful busy in the summertime, but if y'all can get something together I'd love to swing by and chat with you guys. I won't be back in West Texas until probably Monday night, then it's sleepy time.

Hey fellow Texas DW'ers,

I'm taking off a week or two vacation the end of this month. I'm going to be in Austin, TX. on Friday Sept. 1, '06; in Dallas on Saturday Sept. 2, '06; and in Ft. Worth on Sunday Sept. 3, '06 @ Cross Canadian Ragweed's "The Red Dirt Roundup" in The Stockyards.

If any of you guys are playing or want to get together, let's do it! I'm bringing my camera and my ABII with me. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and hearing some good music.

I haven't taken time off in a few years, so I'm ready for a enjoyable trip. Get in touch with me and maybe several of us can get together. Imagine, 3, 4, or 5 DW'ers all together at one place and time. 8) :D

Well, with recent changes in my situation, I'm slowly starting to move my stuff back to the DFW area. We're playing with the band up in Oklahoma at a couple casinos over labor day week. I might can get together with you cats, lemme know when some more concrete plans come together.

We're in Oklahoma playing some casino gigs that weekend, Saturday in Miami, OK and Monday in Broken Bow. During the week before or after would be good for me to meet.

Also, any Dallas cats, we're playing at a little place called the Copper Spur this Thursday, and recording a live album in Waxahachie on Saturday.

See y'all around.

Mike

P.S. - You've been busy? I've been at my house about 20 hours total in the past 3 weeks and only slept one night in my own bed. The life of the road warrior. Why did I get into this business again? :D

Hey guys,

If any of you Texas Dingwall'ers want to meet and talk/show our Dingwalls, I'd really like to party with my TDW friends and paint the towns. Just imagine several TDW owners together at one time paintin' the town.

I have booked my rooms and I

In the midst of all things going crazy around me, I chose to travel on saturday night 4hrs to honour a Professor of mine who gets retired and asked me to perform at the gala after a congress. We need to cover songs from " Besame mucho", "Sway" and "I will survive" to "like the way I do", "Roxanne" and "Wait for sleep" (yes that one, from Dream theater!!! ). For a second i had a question as to which basses I'd carry with me; both my brother (guitar player) and another bass player friend of mine (who will serve as sound engineer) told me "take one of the Dingwalls. You need to cover many different styles. no need to bother for any other bass". They both know the extend of my herd but they both thought of the same thing: Dingwall.

I felt really grateful for the great instrument that Sheldon and his team are providing us with.

I will post pics as soon as i get back
