Nice to see the ABII family grow. As you know, I'm a fan of a nice spalt!

This is simply gorgeous. A wonderful example of functional art. I have to say that everyone who sees my new natural flame maple AB1 for the first time responds with a jaw-drop and goes on about what a stunning, impressive instrument it is. And... they like the sound too. It's the harmonic richness and clarity. When I turn up the gain on my Mesa Walkabout and overdrive the tube pre-amp it can really growl too. I'm a happy camper!

NO WAY!!! That is a killer top!! I wish I would have waited until you got this one out...but I do still like the having the first cocobolo top. Unbelievable job, that one looks very very sexy. I hope that the guy who got it appreciates that baby. Woot!

That is really sweet. The top has a bit of quiltiness to it that gives it a rich depth. It really speaks to me, and I'm traditionally not a "spalty" kind of guy. It's very complex, yet subtle at the same. Thanks for sharing Sheldon!

I love spalt tops, and that one is indeed gorgeous. If I saw that in a 6 I think I would have a hard time not mortgaging the farm for it. I take it this is not a production top, and more specifically won't be available on an ABI (ie no tone chambers)?

Sheldon, So, the spalted top is now on the list of options on the ABII? I am planning on joining the family sometime between now and November and I would love to start with model pictured above. I need to start talking details with someone. Do I need to go through the Atlanta Bass Gallery or should I deal direct?
