These are going to GuitarX in Denver. Gary has committed to a run of 12 Limited Edition Quilt top ABIIs. The 6 is a fretless. He managed to talk us into a Buckeye one as well. Gary can be a persuasive dude when he wants to :)
Here's the first bass assembled in our new shop. It's also the first photographed with our new photo booth. I love the black background, but it made it just about impossible to get photos into magazines. The white should ease this plus it defines the edges so nicely. This one's a Limited Edition and custom color for GuitarX.[/quote:net48cnv] Very nice Sheldon. Congratulations on the move. Yes, black backgrounds are nightmares for printing. It's hard to get a true black and it's also harder to photograph. I like the new white background (high-key). Have you thought about a neutral grey backdrop (much like what Sadowsky uses for all their photos). Lucky player that buys this 1st new shop AB-II!

Thanks Jeff! This black cherry finish looks way better in the flesh than those pictures show. It's darker and much richer looking. The stain over the walnut body looks amazing as well, and the color looks great with the walnut neck and wenge board. This one really tugs at my heart strings. I will definitely be doing more in this finish. 8) I hope all is well with you all now that the government owns GM...
I received my new bass today! At first, I was really worried because the box had a large hole in the side and had looked punctured. (I guess UPS doesn't know what all those stickers that say "Fragile" on them mean.) But, I looked the bass over from top to bottom and don't seem to find any damage to the guitar or gig bag. It looks REALLY beautiful! Great work Sheldon! I've only had about 10 min. of playing time with it plugged in and I'm really happy with the initial sound of the bass. The electronics are so versatile and I can't wait to play with them some more. The fanned frets don't seem like they will be a problem to get used to, at all. I might make some tweaks to the set up for my own personal tastes. Can't wait to put some serious time in on the bass and really take it through its paces. Thanks to Gary from GuitarX and Sheldon again! Great work![/quote:1o842k9c] Sheldon uses an over sized box to ship his treasures, so they can take a shipping hit and arrive in perfect condition. [All of RichC123's parallel fretted basses run and hide] :D 8)

Had the ABII basses looked like this when I was shopping for my first Dingwall, I very well would have chosen one instead of the ABI I bought. Not that I don't still love my ABI though~

Awesome basses! Congrats Joe & Rich! You're gonna love um - my buckeye ABII is the best bass I've ever played - and what a dream to use it on a gig. And, I agree, Gary at Guitar X does a great job!
The classic ABI, flame maple top in whale pool burst. Should be here around April and now I can't wait, but I know it'll be worth it :D[/quote:3mr9eqds] You're gonna love it! Start saying goodbye to all your other basses, this one will do it all and then some. All my other basses, including my only other fanned fret are just wall art now.

Damn it! Now I'm way to anxious to get my Dingwall that I ordered, after reading that post. Around June probably before I see mine. :-( Oh well, good things are worth the patience.
Alright, we'll be looking forward to an update early next week.... :)[/quote:14p6w3h0] Sorry it took awhile to post an update on the ABII Buckeye Burl. I wrote one earlier but I got logged off before it posted and then I put in a wireless network and had some issues getting it working
