These are going to GuitarX in Denver. Gary has committed to a run of 12 Limited Edition Quilt top ABIIs. The 6 is a fretless. He managed to talk us into a Buckeye one as well. Gary can be a persuasive dude when he wants to :)

Just for future use, if I were to order an ABII and includ the point in the price list called [quote:1hqvmb5x]X-Top package - highly figured exotic top, contrasting laminate.[/quote:1hqvmb5x] would that look something like the basses in this thread? Could I specifically get something looking like one of these? Or are the transparen color/burst ABIIs reserved for GuitarX? It's been a while since this thread had some content. Here's one on it's way to GuitarX. It's a fretless 6 setup for tons of Mwah. Brown and blue are tough colors to make look right together, but this one just works.
Thanks Jeff! This black cherry finish looks way better in the flesh than those pictures show. It's darker and much richer looking. The stain over the walnut body looks amazing as well, and the color looks great with the walnut neck and wenge board. This one really tugs at my heart strings. I will definitely be doing more in this finish. 8) I hope all is well with you all now that the government owns GM...[/quote:37rrsv0k] All is well so far, I'm writing from Strasburg Va where we sell parts to the new Camaro for an instrument cluster manufacturer. That car is going like gangbusters, we are at 185% of quoted capacity producing these parts, so someone somewhere is buying them. I'll let the annals of history decide if this was a good move for the US government to get involved in, but I am of the opinion the status quo needed shaking up at GM over 30 years ago. It may be too late, or it may be just in time, we will see. Pray for a speedy recovery, that would put my bass acquisition back on track! Jeff
Here's the first bass assembled in our new shop. It's also the first photographed with our new photo booth. I love the black background, but it made it just about impossible to get photos into magazines. The white should ease this plus it defines the edges so nicely. This one's a Limited Edition and custom color for GuitarX.[/quote:net48cnv] Very nice Sheldon. Congratulations on the move. Yes, black backgrounds are nightmares for printing. It's hard to get a true black and it's also harder to photograph. I like the new white background (high-key). Have you thought about a neutral grey backdrop (much like what Sadowsky uses for all their photos). Lucky player that buys this 1st new shop AB-II!
Is there a name for this diamondy-griddy finish, or is it just the top? I think I might get used to the white background. Are the colors more natural out-of-the-box? I recall you've had trouble capturing the exact color of some basses before, hopefully it won't happen again.[/quote:kch3u58t] That diamondy-griddy finish is the quilt maple top.
