Hey, guys and gals, let's hear everybody's guesses as to what color the first SJ5 is going be, just for fun. (Too bad there's no way to run a giveaway with this poll, at least I couldn't figure anything out).

Anyway, I'm going with Copperhead(Bronze Age), for obvious reasons  (but I think Reeses orange would actually be the most appropriate choice, to thank our beloved Lomo for his impassioned and vigorous support of the SJ5 during this long wait.)

Anybody else?

I am thinking there is a good possibility that a one-of orange finish might be the first one out the door.

If that's not the case, I am thinking either an olympic white or sunburst.

my idea is that it will be a Super J5 with a maple top on a transparent finish (sunburst most likely)

You are most likely right, Fullie, now that I think about the special run that was mentioned here:

http://www.bassandbeyond.com/html/dingw ... _5_le.html

Sounds like there will be 2 SJ models. However, I can't imagine that Sheldon is working on 2 different SJ5's, given how busy he is, so maybe the standard SJ5 will be rear-routed (how I asked for my SJ to be) and topped, and these 12 are "special" because they will be the first ones. :?:

The shop seemed to be relatively open with details about the R&D of the SJ4. The total absence of Sheldon teasing us with previews and details during R&D of the SJ5 has made for quite an air of excitement as the debut nears, don't you agree? :P

Hmmm, the mystery of the SJ5 deepens.

Mark-
The shop was pretty closed mouth about the SJ4 until we were weeks away. Sheldon and I had been planning that bass for 2 yrs and 2 months prior.
Once the wood was cut and parts were falling into place- people started talking about it.
Should be the same here

You are right about #001, of course, Frank, but I was referring more to the regular production SJ, of which a few teases were released before the actual debut. Anyway, I think the SJ5 is going to cause a major GAS epidemic, and I'll be one of the first victims :( .

My guess would be 3-tone SB, but thanks to lomo, it will probably be orange. Rightfully so!
