Well, yes, a pretty old one, but in a perfect shape. I was lucky to get it for a good price, so it was the perfect way for me to try a real Dingwall here in the outback - and it definitely is a keeper. It only needed a bit of truss rod adjustment (thanks again, Sheldon!) and now it is perfect, very low action with no buzz and it plays like dream. By the way, Sheldon, can you tell me what year it is (about)? (no. 1118)

Thanks,
Chris

JP LOL.

Chris, all records from that era were lost in the fire, but late 1994 would be a good guess.

Here is my baby, the day it arrived at Bass Northwest: AfterBurner II Custom [url:18i8ops2]http://bassnw.com/Special%20Order%20Basses/Basses/Dingwall/dingwall_afterburner_II_5_bubinga.htm[/url:18i8ops2]

Evan said he was going to be able to order a couple of customs from Sheldon, so I asked for an active AfterBurner II, bubinga body, oil finish (no paint).

Every time I touch it I just grin like an idiot. I've had it for over a year now, and it continues to astound me.

I love love love my Dingwall...

Here are the pictures after upgrading my Prima from 1995 with Aguilar OBP-3, Dingwall FD-3 Pickups and Dingwall Saddles. The Pickups are sounding great and the new Saddles in combination with the new Pyramid-strings have a very clear sound and a perfect precise playability. The main advantage of the OBP-3 is for me the perfect control of the mids. I have to be very carful with the bass-pot, you can only use it to cut the lows. If you go higher than the middle position you can simulate an earthquake if you have the right amp!!!! (I`m using an EBS HD 350 with a 4x10 and 2x12 cab made by SECO). Overall I`m very happy with my "new" Bass. Sheldon, thank you for your recommends, everything you promised came true!

Here's mine! I absolutely love it. I just got it last Tuesday, and have been trying to get some good pics, but I still haven't gotten the color to look quite right. Oh well, maybe after I get access to some better equipment, or actually learn how to take pictures! 8)

Welcome to the forum. We have a lot of fun here.

That's a nice bass, and an amazing top. Where did you get it?

I got that ABII at Jive Sounds in Alexandria, VA. A very small one-room shop run by Jong Lee. He also has an ABI and a Super J among his collection of really fine basses in the shop.

Nice one!

By far, that's my favorite top for any ABII I've seen.

I'm also glad that Jive is carrying Sheldon's basses...He's a nice guy.

That's a cool looking Voodoo style Dingwall, the control layout looks like one of the old Afterburners, but it's stacked knobbed.

What's the word on this one?

yup- an oldie but a goodie.
Its got parallel Bart pickups (not angled) the older style finger bridges, and the 3 knob layout.

did I see this a while back as one from michael rhodes?
its sure in great shape

I will be receiving this bass on Thursday (hopefully) , so i will let you know more. The guy i bought it from, told me that this is a pre-fire Dingwall that predescented the Z1 (1994 or '95). One volume, one balance and a stacked 2-band eq; 7-piece neck, locking keys and the old style brigde. Maybe Sheldon will be able to shed some light.

PS the frets look like they've been changed from small to big (in my humble opinion, of course). If i am correct, i will let you know about a Dingwall with big frets!!!! Again IMO i never looked back to large frets for basses, once i've got hooked on the Dingwalls and their small frets

That could be an early to mid 1994 model before we switched to smaller frets. What's the serial number?

Hi Sheldon. I will let you know of the serial number as soon as i receive it in 2 days. The seller said that the frets have been replaced. Would it be possible to have 2 Hipshot drop keys on both B and E strings, on a Dingwall? i have resisted so far the idea but in couple of places i need AEAEG
