Ok, it's been a while since we've done this. We all have different tonal goals and settings, but its always fun to see what people are using to amplify their Dingwall Basses with! This is a chance to post up your current amp/cab/bass setup. If you use effects, don't forget those either! [img:s3q5vk9z]http://homepage.mac.com/burningskies/.Pictures/IMG_0055-5.jpg[/img:s3q5vk9z] [img:s3q5vk9z]http://homepage.mac.com/burningskies/.Pictures/IMG_0060-6.jpg[/img:s3q5vk9z] Dingwall Zebra 1/Voodoo with my fEarful 15/6+15/Sub setup. For now the head is a Markbass LMII, but I have one of the new Peavey IPR 4500 power amps on order. That should give me just north of 2kw of power on tap most of the time. LET'S SEE 'EM Everyone!

Okay, here is my actual rig! That is one fEarsome tower of power! Clean and uncluttered, the bold colors are a treat! Nice job Bill! Here's another fEarful. I know you guys have heard lots of talk about the Greenboy's designs, but until you hear one in person it's easy to think is just more hyperbole! It's not! My spring project is a fEarful 15 sub and a fEarful 12/6. Parts are in house and once the weather warms up I'll be building cabs. That should give me a number of useful combinations, from the smallest to largest jobs. Until then, I'm retro fitting one of my TL-606's with a 3015LF and the low pass crossover for a sub. The 606 has an enlarged port to handle the extra air, but is lacks about 20% of the internal volume of the fEarful sub. It will be interesting to hear the difference between the two boxes. I can remove the center port cover as well, and there may be some port shelf adjustments. The other 606 and the 3015 full range drivers have been sold. I managed to get the neo drivers delivered before the prices went up.

Time for an update...I know I've changed my setup a bit, and I know some of you have too, Current setup: [img:2vfazlpj]http://homepage.mac.com/burningskies/.Music/fEARful_IP_IPR.jpg[/img:2vfazlpj] It looks like the 'leaning tower of boom' here, but really it's the room (er camera phone) that's leaning. When I last posted I was running a MarkBass Little Mark II into these two monster fEARful cabs. It had a couple of problems. First off, the power amp limiting on the lows was driving me nuts. I have one of the best B strings in the world, and every time I hit something low I felt like the carpet was being pulled out from underneath my feet. Also, I was getting a funky mid-range breakup if I pushed too hard. Newly crowning my amp is one of the hen's-tooth-rare Kern[b:2vfazlpj] IP-777 tube preamps[/b:2vfazlpj]. One of the TB faithful PM'ed me out of the blue to offer up his Kern. I couldn't say no. Sometimes I've discovered that the gear will find you if 'someone' decides that's what you should be playing. For those who have never seen one, the Kern is a high-voltage hand wired, point to point unit. It's got 2x 12AX7's plus a 12AU7 for the DI out. It came to my door way with a set of Sylvania JAN tubes that do sound fantastic. The pre can sound as 'tube' or as clean and wide as you want it. It also has a REALLY big deep low end. Underneath the Kern is my new entry into BIG POWER. Its a [b:2vfazlpj]Peavey IPR-3000[/b:2vfazlpj]. Running one cab off of each channel I'm getting about 450w per cab. Or if I bridge I get 2900w, or about 1500w per cab. The difference is astounding. And I'm not just talking the volume. It's clear and clean at any volume, but the guys in the band commented that it has the presence and clarity of the bass that they've only heard from a large, professional concert PA. Its so clean that you don't realize how loud it really is. A bonus point...The Peavey is 7 pounds. The whole rack is ~20lbs., maybe a few less. I've built this rig around my Dingwall Rastaburst, and I can't imagine anything that would be better for it.
Nice - is that the one from GuitarX? If so I was just looking at that on their site a few moments ago. My favourite.[/quote:2uizxr9g] Yep, it is. I recommend GuitarX if you are in the market for a Dingwall. Very awesome to work with.

Just another hugely +ve thumbs up for the custom 15s based on the fEarful design discussed extensively on Talkbass. For those who may not be aware of these-they're based on a special, long-throw 15 that handles more power and, in conjunction with good box design, goes lower than "normal" 15s. It has a crossover to a 6" midrange and can be made with or sans tweet. Mine is made by LDS and very similar to the one posted by the Burnin' One. It's 8 Ohms and rated at 600 watts and can take the full 600. It's lower, much clearer and just might be a tad louder than my old Epi 310 (it's that extra woofer excursion that milks far more out of it than a conventional 15). At under 700 bucks and less than 50 lbs, this is the best cab I have ever played by a very wide margin, with any head I've used it with (Mesa M9, Walkabout, iAMP Pro). It seems like the natural partner to a Dingwall. I can't imaging Burnin's setup with another 15 sub underneath it :-)

I used to use a combination of a Berg and a Schroeder as well...in my case it was a HT115 with a 1212 on top. You can get pretty loud!

Thanks! Use the full 1200 watts of amplifier (Schroeder 800 watts / 8 ohms + Bergantino 400watts / 8 ohms) and separates them if I can react according to the situation.

I never get tired of posting these lovelies with the "fridge". Just what is needed for a gentle compelling worship song.
I will say that most clubs had never heard anything like it. It was quite a shock.[/quote:op06lhm7] I can only imagine. I had the pleasure of playing through a couple of S18b-d and a Q10bx-d together....good times but it would be a tough haul(still not nearly as heavy or bowel-punishing as the Quarts!)
