If they live up to the hype they'll be pretty cool. I've got wood on order.

I'm told that it is extremely hard on expensive tooling. It is so dense that it apparently wears out CNC bits and saw blades extremely quickly. A well known guitar maker in southern California tried it out and wore out so much tooling they gave up on it. It seemed to work very well in a lam neck, but the tool cost was excessive.

I haven't noticed any problems working with torrefied maple. It's no worse than working with an extremely well seasoned blank. I do find that torrefied wood is noticeably stiffer. A multi-lam neck is almost too stiff using this heat treated wood. What I see a lot of other builders doing is using torrefied maple with a single action truss rod as means to save weight.
