Hello, Is it possible to order a replacement pickguard for a Super J or Super P? I have to otherwise nearly-matching basses, and am toying with the idea of matching the pickguards. Here is a photo of them next to each other. The J has a Baltic Amber guard, and the P has tort. Thanks! [img:1tdiagn9]http://i64.tinypic.com/dmpbn5.jpg[/img:1tdiagn9]

If I recall reading on the boards, they don't have Baltic Amber anymore.

I purchased a replacement pick guard (Tort) from Sheldon when I converted my J to P/J.

Replacement pickguards for Super J's with the chrome plate are no longer available. Oddly those chrome plates were very inconsistent from batch to batch. We would have to custom tweak the pickguards every time we got a new batch of plates in. We have no way of duplicating the exact revision. The good news is that there are several custom pickguard makers in the US who do great work, have a wide variety of materials to choose from and can usually beat us on price and turnaround time. http://pickguards.us/pgordinst.htm

Ah thanks Sheldon - it's a shame I'm in London! I will see if I can find someone here who can work from a tracing. If I wanted to match the tort material, is there a particular type I should ask for?

I'm sure there's a UK equivalent. The material is the true Italian acetate bonded to mint/black/mint stock.

Like me he's based in Essex so not far from you so might be worth hitting up if you don't have anyone in mind.

Did you send him the guard?

He's only a 5 minutes up the road from me so i just popped the bass into him as i wanted something else done to it anyway and he did it that way but yeah i reckon sending him the guard should do the trick. He's semi retired now but i was over his place last month and he is still taking loads of work, tell him Jon sent you his way and say hi for me!
