The preamp in my 2001 Prima (serial 3335) has gone out and I am trying to find a replacement. First it started out as a slight distortion that I compensated for by turning down the gain on the pre amp. Then it got progressively worse so now I am in need of a replacement. It is a Bartolini NS2TMB-18. I have searched the web and even sent faxes and email to Bartolini but to no avail. Sheldon do you have any new old stock available for sale or have a lead as to where I can find a direct replacement?
The closest thing from the current Bartolini line up is a NTMB 5.2 A/P but it does not have the dual buffer component of the NS2TMB-18 or the +9v/-9v power configuration, so I am worried that it will change the tone or not play well with the (made for Dingwall) Bart pickups that are in the bass. I kind of want to keep the integrity of the stock tone.

We've never installed 3 bands with dual buffers so I assume this is a retrofit. I'd take a hard look at all the external passive components to make sure they are 100%. Make sure the pre-amp is getting full power etc.
The bart pickups will work fine with an NTMB, the blend will not work as smoothly as a buffered blend but you'll at least be able to have an active/passive option which is not possible with a dual buffer system.
