It's very hard for me to put down in words the sonic imprint of each and every Dingwall
I have sort of short listed some Dingwalls that will be able to perform from Dub to hi-fi hi-energy fusion, and everything in between
The Z3: super fantastic sounding Dingwall and the most versatile Dingwall so far

(Sheldon's voice "oh, ohh!!! I can feel more trouble coming my way")

The GL: huge sounding very balaced tone, big warm bass with amazing clarity (able to do the ultra low Reggae and Dub thing)

The Emerald Green: the most "active" of passive basses (in the best sense of both worlds); has all the Dingwall tone juiced up by the Villex NVT pickups and Passive 3-band EQ electronics. It's not as extreme as an OBP-3 preamp, but very versatile and musical (even in the most extreme settings)

The AB II: the Cross-over between a Prima and a warm Z with a unique voice of its own

Tom Bowlus' Prima: looks that match the tonal elegance

or Prima Artist 5: another tonal teaser from Sheldon (do I need to mention that it's drop dead gorgeous too?

)

A Z1 is mostly quite growly and upfront to fit quietly in some music (loud and clear, as a bell, but no whistles), while the Z2 has a thicker and growly bridge tone without the neck pillow-y comfort (not much for a plug and play laid back bass; both basses command the attention of the audience and my playing style does not help either

)
The Super J has a great J vibe but not the authority of the 37"-34" scale
