I'm sure the long-term dingaholics remember that I had trouble playing chords above the 12th fret on my Dingwalls from day 1, and that was part of the reason for my being "between" Dingwalls for about a year before rejoining the fold. Recently I've been noodling with them again on my Z3 and have realized that I CAN play them on my Z, but lower on the board than on a conventional 34" bass with parallel frets. On my Basslab I Have to play that stuff above 12 in order to avoid mud. I finally (slaps forehead and says "duuhhhhh") started noodling chords in the middle of the board, mainly between 9th and 12th.....and it sounds great on my Z. The definition and clarity allow it to be played and heard easily here! For those of you with more experience and chops: where on the long, fanned board do you usually play chords?

I played chords a good bit on my old ABI up above the 12th fret but I always had to revoice them from how I played them on parallel frets. Barr chords are a PITA.
