[b:22scbrex]In stock Payson Fanned Nickel Steel Strings.[/color:22scbrex][/size:22scbrex][/b:22scbrex] (Thank you to those that have purchased directly using ffstrings@yahoo.com via Paypal. It really streamlines the process.) These strings were designed to sound good with your tone control as wide open as possible taking advantage of the pu's wide sonic range. Compared to the La Bella's they have less tension with a more balanced feel from string to string. We took great obsessive steps to get the absolute best out of these strings. They are truly custom wound to my proprietary specs. A .130T-H (Medium Heavy) B string will be available for those who tune down or want an even more authoritative B. The .35 is for 6 shooters. 37"-34" Fanned Scale Gauges are .130T .105T .85T .65T .45 .130T-H and .35 Singles available. The .130T-H will have a silver ball end. What are the differences between these and the stock Dingwall strings? Higher / lower tension? Brighter / Darker? etc...
What are the differences between these and the stock Dingwall strings? Higher / lower tension? Brighter / Darker? etc...[/quote:3sjecwj3] They're Nickel Steel. Larger gauge resulting in more bass and low mid punch. No upper mid harshness. Slightly higher tension but not as much as the La Bellas' were. They're manufactured to sound good with the tone control as wide open as possible.

So these are the nickel strings suggested for all Dingy's, even Super J's? I saw a thread Sheldon started about new nickels and such....wondering if the strings YOU'RE talking about are THE "Dingwall" strings? And would they be higher tension than the GHS stainless that came stock on the Super J? Thanks!

These are designed to fit Fanned basses 37"-34". The B would be too long for a SJ ac. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/phot ... 59&theater

Hey Payson, The strings have arrived, the order is right on! I have both flavors of B string and the .35 for the sixer. Thanks for getting it done! I'll try to get them on soon and report back. I want to spend a little time playing the AB-1 fiver with the Labella's before I make the change so I can try to describe the differences as I hear and feel it. Tough duty, but somebody has to do it! :D

I had fully planned on holding the production PFNS strings back for a few days of testing just to make sure they were as good as the prototypes. I randomly selected 2 sets, installed them on my both my ABII5's. It took about 5 minutes of playing on both basses to realize they had nailed the tone and tension. They sound even better than the proto's imo. Just a setup reminder guys, as with every bass getting new strings, gently take your thumb and press down on the string just past the saddle for a better break angle. This will also make your action a tad lower. I also do it at the nut with both thumbs pushing down on either side of the nut for proper break angle at the nut too. I have no way of knowing how the .35 C string sounds with the set so let me know your thoughts.

I've linked ffstrings@yahoo.com to accept payments via Paypal directly If you know exactly what you want. Please make a note of what model and how many sets. It's perfectly ok to mix the PFNS and PFSS sets in the order if you want to take advantage of the pricing discount for multiple sets. This should help streamline this process. [/size:2ifyfz21]

I didn't know where to put this, so I'll give my 2c here. Got my strings just in time before Christmas and swapped them in immediately. Boom - perfect tension for ADGCF in my ABII (the stock strings were a bit too loose for my taste in A standard, so I was looking for a bit thicker set). NOTE: I didn't even get the thicker B, just the normal (nickel/steel) set. I'm liking the sound also, which is strong, clear and defined (acoustically). I haven't had the time to record with them yet, but I don't think these strings will disappoint on tape either. Would I recommend these without hesitation? Yes. *thumbs up* :)
