[quote="rollerberg2000":1nsu1zye]How do these compare tension wise to stock DW nickles? Interested in trying these...I use my detuner to drop A often too, should I stick to your regular nickle set?[/quote:1nsu1zye] I haven't done a direct comparison, I would guess similar. The Payson FNS-Reduced Core and PFNS-Medium Light sets share the same formula B string, so that answers your question on the drop A tuning. Looks like you have a couple sets of the Reduced Cores on the way. Let us know what you think, Jeff.

Always a danger using brand new strings at a gig, but they stayed remarkably in tune through each crushing set! I'm hard pressed to find a difference in the way the DW NS sound and feel. The Payson's may have a tad less tension, which was almost imperceptible. Good news is they went on no problem, and did not have to touch anything in my set up, so that's always welcome news. The red balls even match the color of my old Z2! Thanks Payson!

Agreed, we now have several sets of nickel to choose from that are right in the sweet spot. I really like the reduced cores. The medium lights are right in there, too. Thanks Payson! Nice to be able to get them from Bassstringsonline.com with the great service and rewards plan. I think its really cool that BSO.com remembers your orders and gives you a quick reorder option. Happy New Year!
