Well, I'm gearing up for my next Dingwall project. My wife told me she wants me to have a new Dingwall for my 50th birthday next year. (How incredibly cool is that? Somebody pinch me to see if I'm dreaming!)

So, I contacted Dingwall Sales about the wait time for Z basses and standard Primas. To my surprise, he told me that the only Primas now being built are the Artist series with a 4 year + wait time :(

Oh well, I guess my new Dingwall will have to be a Z1-5. :D Now, to decide on the color...

It doesn't surprise me that they're not going to go on the Prima 'basic'...it seems like it would be a limited return on high expectations of the customer of the Prima name.

The wait these days is pretty killer...I'm a month away from my 2 year order anniversary for my Z!! :D All my friends and band mates believe that it's a myth and I'm not really getting a new bass.

Wow, 4 years waiting time on an Prima Artists. I think it might be time to close the order book while they catch up a little.

Congratulations on the potential new Dinger for your 50th!

Yep, it's that way for almost a year now - it was decided just when I was on the edge to order one, and that put me off as I just can't afford or justify the cost of a Prima Artist. It's sad... I wonder though if they have gotten more flexible with the Z woods now that the plain Prima is gone, we know that they did a mahogany body for the snotburst/brazil, but I wonder if they would do walnut Z bodies or if they want to keep it as a Prima wood. A Z with a walnut body and wenge neck and top would be VERY tempting for me...

You're not dreaming, you just found a great partner. My guess is she'd say the same of you; it usually works that way IME. I dunno what colour you'll choose, but I do know mine'll more than likely be______.............you know how to fill in that blank :-)
