Greetings to all! I recently completed my order with Gary at "Guitar X" for a new Z2 5 string fretted and a new AB-II 5 string fretless. Gary at Guitar X, Dingwall Sales Lamb and Mr. Dingwall have all been great to work with during this process. I've been full of questions, changed my mind on things a few times, etc. I appreciate their patience very much! I'll post updates from time to time as the build progresses. The Z2 will have a highly figured Eucalyptus top and a 24 fret Ziricote fretboard. The AB-II fretless will have a highly figured quilted Maple top with a natural finish. Both basses will have the FD-3/4L pickups and Glock 3 band EQ systems. It is going to be a tough, long wait but it will be worth it!

I can't imagine that any relatively thin top wood would be very heavy.

Definitely "lol" worthy. I guess heavy is relative. My last two basses had bodies made out of sapele mahogany. Now those were heavy. I don't think the eucalyptus will be an issue. It's not like it's depleted uranium.

>It's not like it's depleted uranium.< Don't give Sheldon any ideas... (depleated uranium's density might add to the sustain)

Hmm??? I wonder what the half-life of a sustained note would be????

I've seen some other "in progress" photos on the boards lately. Hopefully I'll have an update soon!

I just received the fretless AB-II and as you would expect, IT IS INCREDIBLE! I weighs in at 7 lbs, 13 oz and the fit and finish is the best I've ever seen in an in an instrument. The action is super low and it was even in tune right out of the box! I haven't had much time with it yet but I have to congratulate and thank everyone at Dingwall for such a fantastic bass! More to follow. Mandatory pics! [img:2ohm5sb6]http://i56.tinypic.com/dwudqq.jpg[/img:2ohm5sb6] [img:2ohm5sb6]http://i56.tinypic.com/v2tc79.jpg[/img:2ohm5sb6]

Gorgeous instrument. Does it really have a three-band pre-amp? How do you select pickups?

I guess I should have posted this a while ago; it has the two band Glock. The controls are the usual AB-II variety.
