Would it be a foolhardy idea to consider making the top string of a Dingwall bass a F# string ? This means you could drop tune it to make a super low E, the way I do for low A with the B string.
Would different pickups be needed ? Would the neck need to be amended any way ?
Could I order one to be built this way ?
Anybody any answers ??????

We just strung up a Combustion low F# today to take to the London Bass Guitar Show. Used CircleK .175's and they sound and feel great. Never thought of throwing a Hipshot on it though. Would prolly sound fine.

I would really love to be able to get to the London Bass Guitar Show.
Maybe next year. Where would I get a set of strings that would let me tune to a lower E from F# on my ABII please? Would Bass Direct do them ?
Im itching to try this. I know Warwick did a F# bass before (vampyre dark lord I think) but I haven't heard if its realistic to be considering taking it and dropping it further.

Why not just get bigger strings for every string and tune every string down a whole step from F# Standard?
